Reliability?

Has GTA IV got any more reliable since release?
Bought it the day it came out and to be honest it was unplayable - crashed every 5 minutes.
Have there been any graphical updates as well?
Didn't look nearly as good on my old TV as the 360 version.

I had to sell my 360 recently and was thinking about buying again for the PS3

If that's true, then there is something seriously wrong with you PS3!

I got it on launch, and have completed story mode and spent may hours doing side missions etc. Total playtime is just over 55 hours and it hasnt crashed ONCE!

So, for you to say it was "unplayable", well there is a serious fault there!

But anyway, i don't know if it's become more stable as i've not had any problems with it!

Nothing wrong with my PS3. Not had any problems with any other games before or since then. Lots of people on Rockstar forums had the same complaint. Wanted to know if updates had cured it

Re: Reliability?

Offline singleplayer is fine - i did the 100% single-player-completion trophy earlier this year, and yes it might have crashed once or twice in the 40+ hours i spent on it.

Online multiplayer can have issues - mostly it's fine, you can play a whole evening with no problems. There might be issues with certain router/ISPs on particular people, but i can play with 4 mates great

From what i remember, certain PS3's caused the game to crash, and that was rockstars official statement! Mine's a launch day 60gb.
(i'll try and find a link)

And from what i understood, the machine's it did crash on, it crashed maybe once every couple of hours etc. But you said "unplayable", which to me means you load the game up and it will crash every 5 minutes or so!

First two times it crashed as I was driving the two girls back from the station, but at slightly different places.
Next couple of times I didn't even get that far.
Took it back and got the 360 version which did not crash once in over 50 hours.
