Looks good. Have you tried it? If you have, how does it compare to the rfactor F1 mods?

Re: GT5P crew's other racing dalliances. - Part 2

That mod is a conversion of F1RL 2009 mod for Rfactor which is average at best although I believe the physics have been reworked for GTR.

Mods such as CTPD, MMG or FSone2008 (my new favorite) for Rfactor are much better mods and more realistic.

However Rfactor has poor AI, so if you want to race against the AI rather than hotplapping or online it maybe worth a look.

I still play Grand Prix 4 offline, as it has the best AI around.

Last night I took part in another race with GB Sim Racing using the Touring Car Legends mod racing 1988 cars around Paul Ricard for 25laps. I drove the little Toyota Corolla Levin Class D car against Class B and A cars such as M3's, Merc 190s, Skylines, RS Turbo's and Holdens. Whilst I got destroyed on the straights it was great fun in the corners with the grippy Toyota holding it's own. I came 7th out of 13 in the end and had a great 3 car battle with an RS Turbo and a Holden for 10 laps, swapping positions multiple times. I eventually got past both and held them off for the rest of the race.

The netcode on Rfactor is excellent there's no hint of lag and it's super smooth, how online racing should be on all games.

Agreed the Rfactor F1 mods are far superior to Evo and i have to agree with the majority of the mods the AI sucks but it's very mod dependent.

I am personally not a fan of either of the Evo F1 mods.

Cant wait for the new CTDP mod which their doing for rFactor2, CTDP has always been my favoured F1 mod alongside MMG can't wait for the new MMG but like you i really like FSONE08 at the momment. But i do not like this Evo mod or the origional rfactor from which it was converted and i can not stand the RFT mods.

Re: GT5P crew's other racing dalliances. - Part 2

I've recently got hold of GTR EVO for PC it's the game Race Pro on X360 should have been had it not been rushed.

I'm finding the AI quite a challenge and pretty good in general, and it's nice to be able to play at a decent framerate and have mirrors you can actually see out of.

I downloaded the GTL mod yesterday, which is really good although not up to the standards of HistorX mod for Rfactor, the better AI in EVO make up for it.

I've also been playing Grand Prix 4, despite the less realistic handling and physics it's still a challenge and the changing weather and wet weather driving is still excellent, the AI drivers can also race hard and defend very well and are aware of your track position. Despite being a seven year old game the AI is still better than any other racing game I've played, plus there's the option to download newer season mods and better physics.

NISMO, what Rfactor mods have decent AI? I've tried quite a lot but they all have poor AI.

Be sure to check out both the FVR V8 & DTM 07/08 mods which are two very good GTR Evo mods

NoGrip :: Race 07 / GTR Evolution Downloads - FVR DTM 2008 Season for FVR DTM 2007

NoGrip :: Race 07 / GTR Evolution Downloads - FVR V8 2009 V8 Supercars Aussie Racing Series

Again rFactor conversions but both excellent, just make sureyou patch them.

Also, AI wise off the top off my head

PCC 2007
Epsilon Euskadi

And i have always found the HistorX mod to be solid AI wise but for somebody who still plays Grand Prix 4 then nothings gonna really touch it. I can't believe you still play that but that was seriously hard back in the day! But as said GTR Evolution has superior AI no doubt but rFactor online is far superior.

Re: GT5P crew's other racing dalliances. - Part 2

Just a quick update for anybody else interested - myself & BYF took part in the first race of an rFactor Touring Car Legends Season at GBSimRacing

I came 6th out of 18 in the opening round at Monza - BYF came in 10th but in an under powered car.

9 rounds out of 11 count so there is still time if anybody else wants to get involved. Great clean racing - worked very smoothly online.

Would be good to see a few of the regulars from here join in. Nice community - very welcoming - take the racing seriously but not too much - just nice hard clean respectful racing.

Never really got into rFactor in the past but have to say I`ve been very impressed with the latest crop of mods and tracks.

The next race is 22 laps of Donington (National Layout - I think) - on 2nd June at 8pm for 30 mins qualification followed by the race. So nearly 2 weeks to download the mod and get some practice in - you can just use the free rFactor lite download and add the mod so no purchases required. Check out rFactor central for more info about the game and mods.

Just post over at in the registration thread at gbsimracing if interested - mention myself or BYF.

Come on Nick / Dave / BR & others .... you know you want to !

BR you can make some real use of that Buttkicker

Cheers

Know what you mean - I`m married and my son has just turned 3yrs plus I have a very time consuming business - on call all this weekend.

I have signed up and will try to make the race every fortnight on a Tuesday but if I miss a couple so be it. The good thing is that it gives you something to practice for in the meantime - otherwise I find I just drift from mod to mod / game to game without ever really racing or doing a season.

On that note I`d quite like to do an F1 season (probably not full distance - maybe 50% with 2x fuel / tyres) with one of the rFactor mods - possibly offline to start with and once up to speed maybe online - racedepartment looks interesting.

Tried CTDP 2006, MMG 2007 and FSone - not sure which I prefer yet.

Cheers

Didn't notice me slipping in 8th then ?

I'd second all billy says, a good crack and very fair racing, well worth a look if your interested. Sure as hell beats going round those dammed prologue tracks again.

Sorry mate - missed the connection to AVF until after you posted in the post race thread.

Good fun though - pleased with that as I`d not practised the track and was still very jet lagged. Could / should have had a higher position but fell off the road as I caught the 4th position who later got 3rd.

Managed to dip under 2mins lap in race too which was one of the faster M3 times

See you at Donington

Cheers

Re: GT5P crew's other racing dalliances. - Part 2

I'm looking forward to Donington, I'm hoping the little Toyota will be more competitive around there.

The only thing I don't like is two weeks between races, I enjoy racing Rfactor online and it's probably the smoothest online driving experience around with no hint of lag and I really enjoy it. I'm really glad I got back into PC gaming.

One thing I will have to do for the next race is turn down tyre smoke effects, there were some corners at monza where I couldn't see a thing thanks to the car in front locking up producing a thick cloud of tyre smoke.

The only thing I don't like about Rfactor is that the AI is poor, because of that I prefer playing RACE/GTR EVO offline against the AI which are pretty good as well as Grand Prix 4, online Rfactor is king though.

I've given console racing a good go, and whilst I enjoyed it, it always felt like something was missing. When it comes to car physics, damage, features, realism, options, customization and lag free online races the PC sims cannot be beaten.

I`ve registered at Racedepartment as suggested by NISMO - they run lots of Club races ie one off races in GT Legends / GTR Evo Race and rFactor.

Was gooing to do a F179 around Monza on Wednesday but footy calls

They are evn doing a 6 hour endurance race with driver swaps - gulp.

Plenty of other races though - maybe we can link up for a few - let me know if interested.

Cheers
