Help needed from Logitech Driving Force EX owners!

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a Driving Force EX (blue handles) wheel for my PS3 and PS2, for playing GT5 Prologue and GT3 A-Spec.

I have a few issues, and I'm not sure whether it's supposed to be that way, or whether mine has a problem. I would really appreciate help from any fellow owners if you have a minute!

Firstly, the Mode button does not seem to work. You are supposed to be able to hold it down to change sensitivity using the D-Pad, plus you are supposed to be able to change between analogue and digital modes. The Mode light just stays orange. Nothing happens at all on the PS3, PS2 and my PC.

Secondly, and my main issue, is the feel of the wheel. Now I don't have any prior experience with gaming wheels so cannot compare to anything, but the turning action just feels very strange. I'll try to explain.

Imagine there is no power going to the wheel - when you turn it you can feel resistance from the gear motors, and by pushing you can get the motors to move - and you get an audible whirr/grind of the motors moving.

This is actually how the wheel feels when switched on - resistance to movement, then the audible whirr/grind of the motors being forced as I steer my onscreen car.

The wheel gets force feedback correctly when going around corners etc, and if I were to leave the wheel go while driving in a straight line it 'oscillates' back and fore (which is apparently normal). If the car spins out, the wheel moves of it's own accord, so that part must be working correctly.

I'm not sure if this is how the wheel is supposed to operate or not. Particularly as an online review I read quoted the wheel as being 'very smooth'.

Help appreciated!

Re: Help needed from Logitech Driving Force EX owners!

Just been on YouTube - there are quite a few reviews and opinion videos on there of the EX.

Looks like the grinding noise when turning is completely normal. Guess this thread is solved and can be closed.
