Fanatec - Carrera Wheel & Clubsport Pedal Preview

Not interested in this average budget level wheel from Fanatec, only single motor and noisier but when its released it will probably be a great alternative to the GT wheel from Logitech.

Finally the first good look at the Clubsport Pedals
See the video

here

See the video 15 mins in regards comments on the Turbo S wheel being superior to the G25 giving more confidence and having no deadzone that the G25 has.

Re: Fanatec - Carrera Wheel & Clubsport Pedal Preview

Looking on Fanatecs website the Turbo S (X360 Compatible) wheel now is listed as SOLD out till July.
That delay puts me right off.

Im wondering if any of you GT5P guys have ordered the Clubsport pedals or any of their wheels?
I have taken the plunge today in ordering the "GT3RS Clubsport" package so hoping delivery will arrive in March as stated on the website.

According to PayPal it was £275.47

Re: Fanatec - Carrera Wheel & Clubsport Pedal Preview

I have really been considering this. I think that I`m about to order the Turbo S "Pure" edition & dongle - ie just the wheel. Which will arrive in July

I did ask if I ordered the ClubSport edition then could I have the pedals in March when they are released but Fanatec said they could only be sent together

So I think I will order the wheel for July and will probably order the pedals separately to arrive in March - I can at least use them as a USB device on the PC with the G25 wheel until I get the wheel. Doesn`t seem to cost any more and I`ll probably skip the shifter kit for the moment - only ever really use the paddles on the G25 anyway.

The GT3RS although £270+ is actually decent value given that the pedal are 199 Euros on their own. As I posted in the 360 wheel thread they don`t seem to have done any discount at all for the wheel & pedals with the Turbo S unlike the GT3RS.

The GT3RS looks better than the Turbo S wheel and supposedly uses the same alcantara as the real wheel - same supplier ! Having had a brief go in a GT3RS it is one special place to be ! Only problem is I really want one wheel for PC/PS3 & 360 so I can attach it to a playseat and just plug it into whichever system I want to use. Going to get a screen suitable for all three systems.

Really not sure what to do - may just skip the 360 option altogether although Race Pro is getting very favourable write ups on the Atari forums by those with review copies. Plus I haven`t really got into Forza 2 much so would get some decent play out of that too. I also really rate PGR4 although arcade biased it is a convincing physics model unlike GRID

Re: Fanatec - Carrera Wheel & Clubsport Pedal Preview

I know what you mean i looked and compared prices a while back too.

If anything i see people ordering the GT3RS wheel in Clubsport package and then selling the Pedals and wheel seperate on ebay to make money.

Getting the new GT3RS wheel for approx £80 is a no brainer taking into consideration the price of the Clubsport pedals on their own, just makes sense to buy it in Clubsport package than the wheel on its own to use with G25 pedals.

With no news on FM3 regards release and tbh its the only game i would consider the wheel for regards the 360 console. Having that and the delay in getting the wheel to July at least not to mention the extra cost just for backlighting and 360 support wasnt worth spending the extra money.

Also theirs no hassle with the wireless dongle as this is wired and the Alacantra might just feel nicer over long periods of play (avoiding cheesy wotsit fingers)

Its alot of money to enchance a driving game, particulary if like me its mainly for GT5 but i firmly believe this game will be awesome when it does arrive. I also have high hopes for the new Colin Mcrae & F1 game but feel particulary on a PC with triplehead (setup i eventually want) these could be amazing graphically and surpass the console versions (just like Grid). Looking at it from the PC gamer perspective people have no problems paying £350+ for a graphics card to heighten their PC gaming so why not this much on a PS3 & PC racing wheel. The pedals alone look £100 worth better than a G25 so i feel its a good value purchase.

Expect a quality review and testing thread full of photos when it arrives...

There's a more up to date review of this wheel now and apparently was really noisy but that's been sorted for production.

I've got one on order anyway so hopefully it will be good for GT5 and F1 2010

Hi Guys

As above I've got the Carrera on order but it won't be delivered until at least October so getting a bit (childishly) impatient now.

I could get a Logitech G27 just about right away for about £220 and paid £150 for the Fanatec Carrera.

Could someone who knows a bit about wheels advise if I'd be as well cancelling the Fanatec and paying the extra £70 for the G27. If the G27's a good bit better I don't mind paying the extra.

Any input appreciated

Buy yourself a DFGT to tied you over, then sell it (it will be basically new) so i expect you would get £50/60 in the classifieds. Thats what i would do. I couldn't tell you which wheel is better.

Funnily enough that's what I did at Argos about an hour ago lol.

I got F1 2010 and didn't want to wait until October for a wheel that may not suit me anyway.

I'm going to cancel my Fanatec order for now til I make up my mind what I want and if I really need a relatively expensive wheel.

Not sure what price range you're looking for but the DFGT is £80 at Argos and seems to be well thought of. Also, it's the official wheel of GT5 which is a good sign

If you really mean the cheapest there's ones at about £25 but I'm not 100% sure of definate models. Seems a shame to spend about £40 a time on good games then get an absolute bargain basement wheel though IMHO

Yeah (I hope so anyway, just about to find out when I get the wheel out the box and plug it in lol)

This is pretty handy: Wiki DFGT list

RDB

just saw your edit: it has paddles but I think I read somewhere they're not the best. Haven't tried yet but hopefully they'll be good enough for a driving gimp like myself
