On consoles though your general average customer isnt a "SIM" nut like you could appeal to on PC...
If they aimed it at a high degree of simulation or even close to the PC titles i would expect most would either avoid it or find it too difficult. The console market is different and sales appeal has to be a priority.
I expect it to be FM2 with mamrmite on top, being that it will be more simulated than that (this is all it has to do) yet be quite a margin from the PC simulation difficulty. Also like marmite some will love it others will hate it.
I remember years back people complaining on forums over F355 on the Dreamcast and although it took a bit of knack to learn it wasnt that hard but loads moaned about it...
The only hope is if the game is designed in a way to offer Sim Mode and Standard but in doing this one mode is probably going to be too easy and the other too hard.
Its a fine balance and youd then have to have good adaptable AI that can accomodate differing factors of skill like how reducing TC ABS SM change not just how the car handles and how more difficult it is to drive but how the AI react to that. WHAT I WOULD DEVELOP
What the market needs is a racer that like LBP allows users to create their own tracks, offering a full track builder and allowing scenary, car paint template etc and share it all with others online. This of course needs based on a great adaptable race engine with good handling and allowing fun racing. No reason why after seeing what LBP has achieved to a certain extent why console games cant now have a MOD scene.
