S8 Ford GT Questions

Ok, so I play GT5P with a pad and in auto tansmission. I have gold on everything except the S8 Ford GT time trial. Is it possible to get gold with the pad and in auto, has anyone done it like this. The best I have acheived is 1.10.150.

Have heard you need to slipstream the viper on the straight at the start of a lap to get under 1.10 and will try this but just wondered if anyone else has managed to do this the way im trying to.
