Things you want/don't want

Ok, thought it might be good to see what people want from GT5 and things they don't want to see in the game, Idea's on what will be included and others that definitely wont!
We will see how different peoples opinions are when it comes to GT5 and what they want/expect.

WANT:
The main things I want to see are weather and changing time of day.
Even if its just set weather like, Sunny, Rainy, Snow, Fog and overcast also time of day morning, midday, evening, night it doesn't have to be a changing thing just set options would be great.

If you could pick a track then a car, then the time of day plus the weather just think of how many combinations you could have for online races, TT's or just by yourself.
This would add huge amounts of replay value from just a few options.
Make it avalable for every track not just set tracks have sunny and night and others have rain only.

DONT:
The main thing is I want to see the single player portion toned down a bit,
Times made a bit easier to win as in if your doing it in Pro mode actually make it possible to do a challenge with out having to cut 20 corners, go down a field and use standard physics just to get the bronze.
I'm not saying make it easy, just a more realistic chance of been able to do the tasks with out resorting to glitches or short cuts.

More cash for wins or more events, I don't want to race the same track, car 46 times in a row just to get the next car.
I don't mind doing hundreds and hundreds of races just don't force me to do the same one over and over for little benefit.

One good way to extend the single player portion would be when you get to say 80% complete you unlock a race editor mode where you can set up the tracks and cars you want to race against and how difficult it is with laps and how many circuits in a row you do and then it works out how much cash you get from the options you put in.
This would make the single player last ages if you can create your own events with your personal choices.

Any Ideas?

Re: Things you want/don't want

Some more!

WANT:
A online Team TT event similar to the normal TT events they put up now.

You enter the TT like normal but you then enter 3 other names that you want to include with your time and at the end of the month the times are added to see what combination of names/team win.
Obviously the other 3 members need to input the same names.

Having a new event each month would give huge amounts of replay value because there are allot of people on forums all over the web that want to play as teams and this is just one simple way of doing that.

The main thing is we need more options and variations to prolong the life of games not necessarily new content as in a hundred more skylines

Re: Things you want/don't want

Want
When you're racing online and you need to quit for whatever reason out of a 20 minute race. The Game warns you of quitting then tells you that you will quit in 30 seconds once the game has found a new host.

Club liveries. All club cars the same colour and the same liverie, but say with different sponsors and decals to tell who's who.

Club vehicles numbered on doors and bonnet as per peoples own preference and not position.

Club leaderboards telling you how long each member has played for offline/online and there wins to losses.

Races with pit-stops and possible driver change. That way you could have two drivers for each car and your equalled out on a performance related quota. This will keep it fair and give the lesser drivers a chance.

Weight penalties for the winning driver/team when racing a event with more than a few races.

Voice communication that can be team specific.

Races where everyone is racing pro physics only. Same with standard.

Challenge events. Where say AVF GT-DC could challenge GTPlanet though a season.

Improved engine noises. Less tyre squeal.

Hardcore racing. = Damage. Real-time Weather. No ghosting or transparency. Flag penalty system i.e. Black flag for obvious intentional contact.

Flashing headlights.

One make race events. With no tuning allowed but with say R1 tyres.

Custom Race-suits and Helmets. AVF GT-DC logos would be cool.

NEW
When racing the option to remove all dials and on-screen indications. Imagine racing in-car with nothing to distract from the realistic in-car view.
and maybe at the end of each lap it flashes up your time/position/lap.

Pit boards when racing online. Imagine driving past the pits and seeing Insert name P1 +0.07

Highlighted things I like, some good ideas there.

Another simple one

WANT:

TT leaderboards like there is now but with every single tyre choice plus one with Tuning available.

Hard to add anytyhing you guys covered just about everything, I would like some handicapping to give us even closer racing, based on your 10 previous finishes in a given event.

Re: Things you want/don't want

Well i have a few too but some ARE already confirmed:
Even though they are confirmed we dont know as yet the full details...

One of my biggest hopes is with car clubs and what this allows.
Particulary when intergrated with Home as well as the internet.

Car Clubs
I may be wrong but think you can:
Own a club and be a member of upto 5.

Clubs support upto 16x2=32 racers.
Is the 32 a clue towards possible team events and having car sharing over pits like endurance races do, i have a feeling something like this will indeed appear in GT5. Also the benifit of 32 means each club has a greater possibility of having its members online than 16 would of course.

Clubs should contain some form of identification via liveries or indeed car designs. I can only wish liviery designer makes it to GT5 but improves on the one in FM2 which also had a bug were things moved after you placed them.

This is an Area that made FM2 community awesome however and i personally was hooked on making accurate car models, if anything i spent as much time with this as i did my racing. Heres my fave which took 50 hours but mainly because of issues with the cars shape and the limits of the editor. Although their were many 959s on the marketplace during my time playing the game i never seen one just quite as well defined so was proud of what i achieved. Ithink i only sold 5 of them and mostly to friends but for loads of money.

Cars in GT5 would look even more awesome so i really hope they do include this feature with replays and photomode of course

Calender for race meetings via My Page
Weather effects (to what extent unknown pre set, random or from real live data) Personally i feel real data mode is possible and is one reason why the My page has always shown tracks/weather and temprature all we know yes weather is included. Look closely at the last Citreon video and you will see brief footage of some day-night times and working headlamps.

Its with weather how much more the game will change and offer a greater appeal if indeed they manage to implememnt it well.

More later

Re: Things you want/don't want

That car looks great BD, The only thing I would say regarding editors is I'm not too sure I would like too much freedom with it! Yes it would be cool to race against good looking car designs like your's but for every car like that there are a 100 pink dragons with big white teeth and 100 police cars! I know that would spoil GT as a serious driving game.

If you could just use set logo's and name/number icons and wasn't able to stretch then into making Yu-Gi-oh heads then that would be fine.

As long as it had enough in to be able to make serious looking team cars with sponser logo's and such like that would be better imo, or at least have a option to enable/disable being able to see them in online races.

Re: Things you want/don't want

You have a point of some terrible cars appearing, however with racing clubs and private set races going to be available in GT5 by the "Club" or host id say its likely most people will play in communities and with people they know.
Challenges may come yes for clubs to challenge others and that wont be controllable to what car liveries they may have

However with clubs its then more likely that if someone has a very annoying or offensive paint scheme theyd be asked to change it or possibilities for hosts may be:

Personal Liveries Off/On
All cars to set livery or option of A B C D for teams or colours?
Kick Player if not accepting request to change livery?

Re: Things you want/don't want

I have a small niggling feeling in the back of my mind that we wont get many new features over GT4, I hope I'm wrong it's just a concern I have going by past efforts.

Most of the Ideas we all have are simple but implementing them is another matter especially when it comes to Japanese developers and their opinions differing from ours.

Re: Things you want/don't want

I'd like to see the ability to download friends hotlaps/ghosts to watch and race along with the option to upload/download car setups.

been done before in other games so shouldnt be too much to ask.

oh and proper G25 support, for easier button mapping etc.

also if they update the game, i want my game settings and car setups to be saved!

Want
Tyre skid marks that remain on the track.

Gravel traps that actually have a tread in them when you've drove into/through them.

No he's not! this is just my reality list you should see my fantasy list for GT it would only take about 20 years to make at PD's speed.

Re: Things you want/don't want

I loved GT4 and I'd be happy to get the same game in HD if I'm honest, but additions I'd like to see are...

More cars - bit of a no brainer really - great to see Ferrari lisence sorted now just hope Lambo & Porsche can be added too - and I'd donate a testical to be able to take a Veyron down an unchicaned Le Sarthe

Tracks - more real world tracks rather than ficticious ones. A bit of a long shot but real world rally stages like Oijinpohja (sp) or Col de Turini would be ace.

Online leaderboard for A-Spec points, thought these points were brilliant in GT4, hope they make a return.

Day/Night cycle for 24hr races.

As long as the Endurance / Extreme events are still there I'll be a happy bunny - GT4 had what? 555 races, I hope it's successor equals that.

I know what you really meant The thing with Gran Turismo 5 is that it's more than likely going to be the last one at least on the PS3, PD have stressed a interest in resent interviews they wouldn't mind trying to develop a new game and I was also reading a few old posts this morning from the play and help thread and in that is a interview from a year ago stating the the "master" would like to try out a RPG.

With the Internet GT5 doesn't really need a successor on the PS3 because they can add things with updates and DLC.

Most fans have been waiting years for this probably like yourself and want it to be the most complete and best GT to date bearing in mind we now have the power to do so with the PS3.

I hope that PD start work on GT6 for the PS4 straight after this and just make it a slow side project if their interested in other things after all they would have at least 4 or 5 years so they could possible do part 6 with a smaller team and less resources.

Would be interesting to see if they did a totally new racing game like F1 or Rally!

[QUOTE=chowyunfatt;8506758]I know what you really meant

Ok it's a fair cop gov, I'll come quietly.

The GT franchise has been huge for both PD and Sony, IMHO they would be foolish to say never again, as GT1 and GT5p share a common heritage but are technically years apart.

I'm with you on this, if they decide to do something different then I would have to at least give it serious attention but I would hope that as the technology moves on PD have the sense to revisit the GT concept.

Personally I've been hooked ever since I saw the Advert where the ad started with an outside view of a car spinning and doing all sorts of doughnuts and stuff before screeching to a halt and switching to an interior view where a driving instructor with his hands sunk into the facia above the glovebox turns to the pupil and asks "where did you learn to drive like that" and the reply comes back "Gran Turismo on the playstation" I went out the next day and bought the machine and the game and you know the rest from there.

Our wish list thread shows what could be done if technically possible and the Japanese are anal to in their attention to detail just look at Tamiya models, so I live in expectation of the ultimate Driving Simulator (GT5) hope so.

Re: Things you want/don't want

What I want is better sounding engines! They sound quite poor and not very realistic in the GT HD Demo in my opinion. And to be honest it's been similar in all the GT games I've played.

I can't comment on how they sound in GT5P 'cos I chose not to buy it incase I become bored of the game before the actual GT5 is released.

Re: Things you want/don't want

The game already is a leader in console terms in many ways.

1080p 16 Cars
16 car online
60 Hz
The most detailed cars ever

At the same time yes its still got many faults and downside issues seen in Prologue. However what the game has pointed to offering and as Kaz has stated previously is how GT5 is meant to bring together racing clubs and fans to unite within the world of GT. I know but cant confirm that certainly part of this vision included:
Up & Down loading of:

----------------------
Replays
Fastest Laps
Photos
Also Spectating
----------------------

Ok the above have been available in other games but its how GT5 from the My Page will allow communication, management and accessability hopefully to be taken in a new direction with these Clubs and players on our friends lists. Sony so far as we all know are very much greatly behind MS with regards Online game functionality with chat etc.
For me FM2 set the new benchmarks in what can be done with a Console game yet using the internet to further peoples input towards that game and indeed the online marketplace. I just hope PD have been creative and inject new ideas into GT5. Having 50 tracks and 500 cars these days isnt imo as important particulary with DLC technology and i see no reason why a franchise like GT5 couldnt go in such a direction allowing car packs or indeed tracks to be sold seperatly at later intervals.

Of course the main game cant be seen to of robbed people from a good degree of content or features that must be paid for later or indeed keep all the really cool stuff for DLC...
One example i would put is lets assume "Porsche" cant be in GT5 at this time because of a licensce agreement to someone else is in place witin some international area/country. This therefore means the game cant have this brand/content. However what if come "guessing 9 months later" after the games release that "agreement/licensce" expired then could "Porsche" be added and would people here pay extra for it?

How do you guys feel on DLC but from a point in being satisified from the original product?

For me one of my wishes is that content and new material would also become part of this new idea in amalgamating car lovers with manufacturers, their product launches, car shows, car Tv programmes and the car clubs of loyal supporters. Keeping this ongoing rather than a done and dusted product once it goes into retail.

Surely we are entering a future with "episodic content" becoming common for gaming?

Re: Things you want/don't want

Put it this way if they release 200 DLC cars I'll buy 200 DLC cars.

Lets hope he has a Good look at the competition and does things better, Forza 3 will be shown at E3 this year and be out at the end of the year to go head to head with GT5, now I really can't see Forza looking any better or have better handling because the time they have had on that game isn't enough to work on a new graphics engine and improve things that much.

It might have dashboards now but they will pail in comparison as too will the handling and the graphics, where GT5 might struggle against Forza is the content and I'm not talking about number of cars.

The online aspect will have tons of features as will the career mode and there will also be a load of neat ideas and options to basically customize the game to how you want, this is where GT5 will struggle to compete imho.

My god can you imagine the amount of fan based video's that will be on the net comparing F3 to GT5! it doesn't bear thinking about.

Re: Things you want/don't want

Forza 3 should look better than FM2 graphically as FM2 was only to me like FM1.5. I don't feel that the physics in any Forza game will surpass or even equal what they'll be in GT5 or even GT5P (just my opinion). I just think that PD are gonna have GT5 absolutely nailed in the physics. There's just a purity about GT games that imo has never been beaten. I've got Forza 2 and finished the single player game mode, but just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, especially towards the end. To me GT5 will be the king, but I suppose thats just my opinion and there'll be ALOT of Forza (Xbox) fans to disagree.

WANT

Clan tags for all those people including me that will be using there normal PSN id (For Trophies) and not the elite (no trophies) AVF PSN id.

That way I can be (AVF)Madmurdock and not just plain old Madmurdock.
I will be using my AVF id for the TT's though.

Who me?
Probably not. But seeing as I'm a bigger GT fan than a Forza one and the fact that I've got a Playseat/Wheel for the PS3... my choice is easy. Get GT.

A good example is that I enjoyed racing the Nurburgring more in GT4 than in FM2.

GT for me. Anyway Nick what do you Want/Don't in GT5.

Re: Things you want/don't want

Jeeeze guys you are making me want GT5 more than is good for may heart, the thought of blazing around the Nurburgring in a GTR gets me all a quiver with excited expectation and the best thing is that it only needs to better the GT4 experience to be a huge winer for this particular fish

Re: Things you want/don't want

I had high hopes for Forza 2, considering it's supposed to be Xbox's GT killer - I found it a disappointment. The main reason was it wasn't something to get your teeth into - most races were no more than 2 or 3 laps - in GT4 you had a full F1 season, minus the official cars & tracks of course - the longest race in F2 was what? 40 minutes? 2 hours for 1 race might sound excessive but I found it great, trying to work out pit strategies on the fly, and for the most part I did the F1 league in the Audi R8 Le Mans car (huge fun, very competetive)

Which brings me on to my next WANT,

Fuel and tyre wear in online races with proper pit stops and adjustments when your in the pits.

Just imagine a 40 lap race with 2 pit stops for tyre's and fuel plus the odd spoiler and break bios tweak.
Ok so average Joe bumper cars wont like that but the vast majority of GT fans would.

Make the fuel use relevant to the race length as in we all know a set car might be able to do 40 laps on one tank but if you want to include fuel usage on smaller races like 18 laps just scale the fuel so that you need to pit.

I would really like to see some hardcore race options for online and off races/career modes that have long sessions/seasons and vast pitting and tuning options.

How about 50 lap season races online, once a week with F1 like team mates over 15 weeks with us lot? pitting twice a race with strategies and car setups? I couldn't think of anything better! proper races with all the options and qualifying not some kind of scaled down arcade version of said events.
