Re: Discussions On Building A Supreme Racing Cockpit

I think it would only be used a bit on rally games or i suppose maybe by drifters. Nice frame below also

If you google for images on "G25 mod" youll find some amazing projects and crazy ones too.

Re: Discussions On Building A Supreme Racing Cockpit

I definitely want to make my wheel thicker with some kind of foam/felt padding but at the same time I don't want it to look like it's just stuck on.

Something like that but maybe even thicker.

Re: Discussions On Building A Supreme Racing Cockpit

Possibly awesome Mod above!!!
Easy on the hands too

Just buy a proper racing wheel, theirs many forums that show mods of such adapted to fit onto the G25. Foam padding of any kind gonna look pants.

Its that or consider the new GT3 wheel thats coming in March

I like the look of the real wheels but they are pricey, Wonder if a new G25 will be out before the years end?

Re: Discussions On Building A Supreme Racing Cockpit

The below i think is nice, well it would be more in the direction i would like to go. My problem is on doing the research and seeing so many hardcore projects, with working gauges moving simulators all pc based.

TBH im not wanting to even get into the PC gaming scene, had my fill of GFX card drivers and problem after problem with PC gaming or messing about with mods in the past. Then you question well is what im planning not a bit OTT for basically console based simulator racing games.

Over the past couple of days ive been questioning all this myself and the way i feel is i want the 3way screens really bad but also a large projection screen for backup or games that dont support them. Problem is i dont see me getting into FM2 now and at this moment in time GT5 or indeed ANY further update of FM is yet to be announced or being 3way screen compatible. Thats a problem with that at the moment and not wanting to venture into the PC gaming.

I suppose i want GT5 and FM3 that are easy to turn on and play yet experience these in 3way screen mode but with additional comfort in a proper racing seat and a high quality wheel/pedal set. I suppose really what im after is what youd expect if either of these games was available in a deluxe arcade cabinet but of course small enough to fit in a room.

Ideas:
Giving a more arcade feel

Imagine this with perhaps a wheel mod and gear mod but with the new "Clubsport" pedals and a curved modified 3 way screen or a projection screen that can be used.

I think thats the direction i want to go.

Re: Discussions On Building A Supreme Racing Cockpit

My 10p worth. All the visuals should be provide on screen by the game (working dials don't interest me), the contact points are what I think I can improve on by building something bespoke. Fitting a Momo wheel to the G25 is on my list and I'd also like to improve on the G25 pedals, this may just involve fixing them to the cockpit rather than leaving them on the G25 pod or it may be more complex as in getting a race pedal box and fitting the required electronics to it. This will probably depend on the feedback from Fanatec users.

Did you see the Fanatec Pedals on You Tube (via tester)
Seriously good looking regards quality and ability to adjust them but these are £200 when they release or available in the GT4 "Clubsport" edition approx £260
Id think maybe a few here would consider this new wheel and pedalset and sell off their G25's

Sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger on that video BR. I was hoping at the end that he was gonna say this is part one and 'I'll Be Back'.

Re: Discussions On Building A Supreme Racing Cockpit

I like the thickness of the Fanatec as I had the old green Speedster one on the Xbox and the grip was excellent, with a thicker wheel it feels more like a race car imo.

I had some fun on Forza with that!

Yeah it does and that metal from the pedals looks like what Terminators are made from, probably just as expensive.

Re: Discussions On Building A Supreme Racing Cockpit

Has anyone stripped the G25 pedals to see what electronics are inside? I can't see it being more than a few pots.

I've seen the pedals turned upside down and reconfigured, will try and track down the image, it might have been from GTPlanet.

Edit:

Found it,

Re: Discussions On Building A Supreme Racing Cockpit

I think that's something like a Momo 26 with a button plate on it. I was looking at it as an option only yesterday. I'm also going to try and find a suitable pedal box to modify.

The wheel is from the previous link earlier "the $$$$" ones but seems the owner has adapted it with a Momo wheel.

The net is full of pedal inversions, search google images etc bound to find alot of resources for people that have done that mod.

I think they're going full steam ahead on GT5. But no excuses for nothing new.
