GT5 - Coming in 2009 ?

A little bit of news for fans of GT5. Its looking likely that Amar (a GT insider) has tipped off GTPlanet that GT5 will land this year and sooner than most people think. It is likely the official date will be announced at GamesCom Cologne during Sony’s August 18th press conference.

Here is hoping that this news is indeed accurate.

i pre ordered forza 3 in game last month. and whilst there asked about gt5 (i wont be gettin it on release as i dont have a ps3) and they mentioned teh month before forza. now dont quote me on this, but i think forza is end of october, and gt5 is end of september

Well there is still nothing official that has been announced, however Amar is known for getting inside information from Polyphony themselves, however I think that a September release is a tad optimistic, especially considering PD will be releasing GT on the PSP at the start of October.

I believe 25/09/2009 is the most likely date for the game to be released irrespective of when the PSP has the game.

I agree. Amar and GTPlanet are usually correct with their info. A Dec release date would be more likely as they will want to advertise this game as much as possible to help push holiday system sales. This will likley take up a good chunk of the 3hr conference they have planned. This game and the likelyhood of the Ps3 slim could lead to a great holiday for sony. And for us.

Amar's up to his cryptic presdictionsagain, lets hope he is right!! wohoo.

I think we will get much more details in september on the actual content of the game with the relase date also announced then too.

After the farcical cryptic "predictions" from Amar about E3, I don't personally give him much credibility - even though he seems to have deity status on GTP.

There are only two major shows between now and the release, so it's not exactly Nostradamus to predict a release date announcement at one of them. But the two release dates supposedly "leaked" so far have been right on top of the PSP release, or the week after Christmas - probably the two least likely release dates possible! The internet will believe anything

But who the hell knows. I'd like a March 2010 release so I can get through a couple of Christmas releases before GT makes all other games irrelevant

Hi all,

Now before I get flamed for the whole 'someone who knows someone' part, I want to say that the answer I got seems a bit unusual with the original release timeframe and I'm not entirely convinced myself, but that person would have no reason to make it up if he didn't know.

I had asked someone who knows someone that works for Sony whether that person had any idea about a possible release date for GT5.

Basically, he said that it was due to be released early 2010 but it has been put back a little while longer for reasons he did not know about.

If this is roughly correct, I would be gutted as I really would like it this year but I'm just adding what I've heard.

The Sony Conference is ON Today before the show opens.

GT5 will be at the show playable with gamepodsalong with GT PSP
PSN is going down this evening during the show with other things happening too but no doubt expect news and more videos of GT5 over the next few days.

Finally the wait is over.

well nothing shown at the sony conference, and people have seen the pods on the you tube video, put they have not seen what is running on them, it wouldnt suprise me if it was just gt5p playable, i hope not as i would love to see some new cars and tracks demod, but every gaming site seems to sugest gt5 this year, but i just wish sony and pd would hurry up and announce a date, it dont mater when 2009 or 2010, just TELL US WHEN WE GONNA GET IT

GT5 is more likely to get announcement there than at todays conference.

I think we'll get GT5 this year but I'm only basing my theory on Logitech releasing the G27 wheel in the not too distant.

I'm still betting on a late November early December release. Some nice features within GT5 seem to be appearing. Hopefully we'll get a proper look at TGS.

I`d resigned myself to next year for this, now it looks like it`s only a couple of months off

I`d think if they want to capitalise on xmas it`d be out some time in november, with a PS3 slim bundle available at the same time.

I know this is a GT5 forum but I am a huge racing fan and I was interested to read that Need for Speed Shift was developed by Dice who made the Rallisport Challenge 1 and 2 games. Need for Speed Racing Game

Anyone who played these on the Xbox will remember that these were fantastic games (much better than Dirt in my opinion).

This game wasn't on my radar with GT5 on the way but I think if this game nails the realism, AI and damage then don't flame me but this could be a rival to GT5.

Don't want to burst the bubble, but I always thought Q4 meant 4th quarter of the fiscal year, which ends March 2010.

I hope I'm wrong.
