One in the eye for sony

http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/te...00/7314276.stm

Fantastic news and proof once again that copy-protection systems don't work.

Sony's anti-consumer technology once again has been broken.

Re: One in the eye for sony

And this is good news why...?

who's going to pay for them to develop a new protection system? i'll give you a clue...it begins with t-h-e and ends with consumer...

Re: One in the eye for sony

Because maybe one day Sony and the other miscreants might realise that nothing they can do will stop people doing what they want with the things they own.

Re: One in the eye for sony

If you want to buy a movie which is region coded and your player cannot play it then people will naturally look for other ways to obtain a copy of the film.

Does copy protection prevent piracy or encourage it?

Are you a fascist because you support copy-protection?

Don't remember the copy protection sony tried to force on us with their cds?

They need to stop using copy-protection for the following reasons:

1. It will always be cracked.
2. It is anti-consumer
3. People have a right to use their property as they see fit.
4. It doesn't make the contents of the disc any more "safe".
5. Causes operability problems.
6. All HDCP has and will do is stop people being able to watch HD over the connection type of their choosing - VGA, Component, DVI etc.
7. Copy protection will never stop piracy
8. The development of pointless copy protection system inflates prices.

I'm sure I can think of many others.

If I supported piracy, I wouldn't be celebrating blu-ray being cracked. I would just download the blu-ray images that are online and watch those on my PC.

I am celebrating it being cracked, because I want to be able to use my blu-ray disc that I paid for as I choose.
