AV Advice for newbie - £1500 budget

Hi all, firstly what a forum. Was sent over here by folks on detailingworld.co.uk when I asked for some AV advice and this is perfect! I am in dire need of refreshing my current AV setup and had posted up a few options I've been looking into. I hope this would be the correct forum for me to repost it here to see what you guys the experts could advise me on. Here is the post....

My current TV (Sony) is nearing 10 years old!!! It's still going strong to be honest, but I feel things have moved on enough in the world of TV's that its time I upgraded. Along with a new TV, I'd like to refresh some of the rest of the setup too.
Out of what I have now, I'll be keeping
- my Receiver (Sony STR-DB900) old but still good
- my Projector (Acer DLP PD115) wee guy likes being at the movies with it! 120" electric screen is staying too.
- my BT Vision box
- my All in One remote (Sony RM-AV3100)

On the shopping list are:
- New TV (essential)
- New Media Streamer (essential)
- New 5.1 or 6.1 speaker package (essential)
- New cabinet (essential)
- New DVD Player (nice to have)

TV
What I'm looking for:
- has to be full 1080p
- has to be at least 40"
- has to have good connectivity (3 HDMI for example)
- nice to have 24fps, 100Hz
Choices:
Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000 - £667
Samsung LE40M87 ~ £700

Media Streamer
Has to support HD (1080p), DivX, XVid, MP3/4
Choices:
NetGear EVA8000 - £190
PS3 - £280

Speakers
Choices:
KEF KHT1005 - £245 (HiFi Confidential £200)
Jamo A 102 HCS 5-BL - £225
MS Premiere - £225

Cabinet
Choices:
Alphason ABR1100-W - £200

DVD
Has to support HD (pref Blu Ray), DivX, XVid. Still think its a bit early for Blu Ray as prices are a bit inflated.
Choices:
Sony BDPS300 - £259 (Blu Ray)
PS3 - £280 (Blu Ray)
Toshiba E35 - £120 (HD DVD) - tempted but out of stock at the mo on play.com

Anyway, I'm waiting on my interest free credit card coming and as soon as it is here, It'll be getting hit hard with some purchases from above.
I've kind of let myself drift out of this stuff for so long that I'll be spending a bit more time researching first before I make any final decisions/purchases etc, however I wanted to put up my thoughts so far and open it up to you guys (and gals) to get your help/advice etc.
Anything and everything would be very much appreciated from what to buy to where to buy it. Anything you think might help would be very much appreciated. On cables, I have what I need so no need to cover that.
Thanks in advance for any help.
David
...
well, I'd really like any kind of guidance that you guys could provide me. It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
David

E60Mad?

LOL, fancy seeing you on here mate.

Another bout of OPD (Obsessive Purchasing Disorder) on here as well to add to the detailing hobby?

Personally, I would go for the Samsung, mate of mine has gone through a couple of Sony's and the reliability has not been great. I have a Samsung 32" in my bedroom and it's been the best TV I have bought. Check out Costco for deals on the Samsung's and they were giving 3 year warranty when my Dad bought his. If you dont have a card give me a shout and you can use mine.

Also on the speakers, the KEF's would have to win it for me, as I used to have KEF 2005's and I loved them to bits, but got damaged in a house move and never replaced. The KEF's are amazing looking and fantastic performance for the price.

PS3, without a doubt, kill two birds with the one stone. The Blu Ray playback might not be THE very best that you can get but with a quality panel, you wont notice the difference. Oh and you get to play Gran Tourismo 5 HD as well...

Cheers

Stevie

Hi Stevie, small world mate! Did you go to the last meet up north?
Sorry, wrong forum!

Cheers for your help and advice. Been looking more into it and there is so much to consider and choose from. I can't even decided LCD for sure as the Panasonic Viera range look tempting! Have you used the PS3 for the streaming? Is it up to the job. Been reading that the latest updates allow large file DivX and XVid which is a great addition. Think out of all of the options the PS3 is looking the one I'm most decided on tbh!
