I was looking for a bit of advice regarding a faulty denon 3930 purchased from purely gadgets in april of 2007. The player first developed a fault a few weeks from purchase- I noticed that discs would take quite a long time to load, skip chapter and also take a long time to navigate through menus etc. This progresively got worse and I formally contacted the company around september 2007 for repair/replacement/ or refund ( just under 6 months later). They offered to repair the item and not directly replace or refund. I was unhappy with this at the time and wanted either replacement or refund. there were several e mails sent back and forth, but they would not budge. After many phonecalls I eventully sent back the 3930 on 28/11/08.
Now 4 months later there has been no repair and they have offered either a credit note for the store or a partial refund- the amount to follow. I am not really happy with this and have had a quick a look at the trading standards etc. It seems that I may only be entitled to partial refund as I 'gained some benefit from the product' while I had it.
I wondered if anyone had any advice on how to proceed and if I have any right to a full refund as in my mind the product must have been inherently faulty as it displayed some fault early on which I had initially put down to the dvds themselves. However I did not contact the company until things got so bad that the machine refused to play any discs ( around 5 months later) which I am sure would go against me.
They have actually offered either full credit value at the store or refund minus 5% for every month in my possesion= £590.72 (bought for around £840)
I was considering taking to small claims court- does anyone have any advice on how to proceed etc. Would be much appreciated!
