Re: how to cancel claimed paypal payment

I had a quick read of that guide and it angered me....

If you are unhappy with it for ANY reason, write to the seller immediately through the eBay message system. Here's what you can say verbatim in your short and clear note.

"Hello, I have received this item (fill in the name and the item number) and I am very disappointed. It is not what I expected and I am returning it to you for a full refund including outbound shipping charges.
So let's say you reason is that you've just decided you don't like the colour of it...

I think it's ludicrous to expect the seller to refund the outbound shipping cost, because you've had a change of heart, and therefore be at a loss.

Is this normal?

Re: how to cancel claimed paypal payment

The system on Paypal is extremely unfair on sellers. Once a dispute is raised and Paypal is provided with any old tracking number, they will automatically refund the buyer. They basically ignore any messages and their customer help is appalling.

To the OP, contact the seller first explaining why you are unsatisfied, most buyers will give you a refund even if there's nothing wrong with the item. If there is something wrong with the item and the seller refuses to give you a refund, you can just raise a dispute on Paypal which pretty much guarantees a refund.

You won't be able to cancel the payment as it has been transferred. Deleting your bank account was pretty pointless but if you do get a refund it will go straight into your Paypal funds.

In reality I don't think it's as straight forward as that.

There is no instant automatic return of funds by PayPal in my experience.

As a buyer I bought an item that seller then admitted he didn't have and he fobbed me off several times saying he was trying to source it from Holland and then saying that it was going to be despatched tomorrow etc.

I waited 15 working days before filing a dispute because his listing T&Cs said I had to allow that much time for delivery. Once I filed a dispute I thought it would be straight forward. I provided all the transcripts to PayPal and after 3 weeks they still had not resolved it. So I had to chase them up on the phone after which I did get my refund - so no quick instant refund for me as a buyer, even when the seller had failed to provide the goods after 6 weeks and no proof of postage what so ever.

On the flip side, if the seller could show that the item had been sent and delivered and if the item complied with the desciption at the point of sale I don't beleive that PayPal would side with the buyer.

Cheers,

Nigel

Businesses who distance sell have to put up with this crap on a daily basis and worst of all when they get the stuff back they aren't allowed to resell at full price as it's not new anymore.
Consumers think it's great too.
