Paypal and debit cards ... a Question..

Hi,

I have two debit cards set up on one papal account.

debit card 1 also has the bank account details linked to it entered in papal.

debit card 2 is has just been added as an addition card ( and it is linked to a seperate bank account.

Anway, am i right in thinking that is i make a ppal pament now and there is no money on debit card 1 or in that bank account then it will automatically try debit card 2 ?

Hope that makes sense cus i think ive confused myself lol

Dave

Re: Paypal and debit cards ... a Question..

In theory yes, but your bank will most likely allow the transaction and your either go into your overdraft or go unauthorized overdrawn and get charged. My bank (HSBC) let me go overdrawn even though I have no overdraft on the account.

Re: Paypal and debit cards ... a Question..

The previous post makes complete sense. Depends on your banks "policy". If the card guarantees amounts of £x then it would allow you to go overdrawn to that amount for EACH purchase and certainly before the credit crunch banks were very lax even with this.

My "ex" ran up a substantial overdraft by overspending but never exceeding the guaranteed amount with each transaction.

I cannot speak with complete authority as I only have one card linked to my Paypal account, so I cannot say if one card was declined Paypal would try the second card automatically.
