Unhappy Firefox Maxing out cpu load

Firefox keeps on loading up some of my cores to 100% when I view certain sites (hotmail is one of those sites).

It has done this on two of my pc's and is starting to annoy me. Does anyone know why and how to correct this? Could it be a flash issue?

Does the same thing happen with other browsers or just FF?

Re: Firefox Maxing out cpu load

Solution is obvious to me, switch to the worlds favourite browser - Internet Explorer

Have you tried the nightly builds to see if they have the same problem?

Can you drill down and find out what those sites have in common? I'm thinking Flash ads or something.

I hate IE with a passion.

You could be right about flash adds. Only firefox is showing up in processes in task manager. Nothing else is showing any load.

Re: Firefox Maxing out cpu load

Just tried un-installing all flash entries and its exactly the same. My memory load has gone down from 2.3 to 1.4gb?

At least its giving my cores a good workout.

Can you start FF in no-addons mode? Try that.

The memory thing has been a FF problem for a while, they never did fix it. It leaks like crazy.

That seems to of done it. Cheers Singh.

I had add blocker and image zoom. So it has to be one of those apps.

Re: Firefox Maxing out cpu load

Just in case anyone else is having the same issues, the culprit seems to be Addblockplus.
