O2 Academy Oxford

Hi

Anybody been to the O2 Academy in oxford recently/ I’m thinking of getting tickets for a band, and was wandering what it is like as a venue? and your thoughts and experiences etc, also it’s an hour away from me so what's the parking like. How close is it to the town centre or is it on the outskirts which it looks to be on Multimap.

cheers

Re: O2 Academy Oxford

It's on the Cowley Rd, so is in a small "suburb" just outside Oxford. I've not been there myself but there is a small public pay and display car park nearby behind the Tesco Express. There will be a limited amount of shortstay parking on the local side streets. If you have a very nice car you might not want to park it there. An alternative would be to use the park and ride at Pear Tree and then a local bus from the Town Centre down the Cowley road (they normally run every 10 minutes or so). I can find out which one you want if you like.

Re: O2 Academy Oxford

The Oxford Bus Company runs the City 5 down the Cowley Road to and from the City Centre (to pick up the park and ride) and the train station. Unfortunately the last bus leaves Cowley Road at 23:19 arriving in the City Centre at 23:27 with the last Park and Ride leaving for Pear Tree at 23:30 which is cutting it all a bit fine anyway.

I suppose your other option is a taxi back to the park and ride, either from Cowley road or walking (about a mile) into the City Centre where you can get them late at night. In that case you'd be better to park in the Redbridge Park and Ride to the south of the city for the shortest taxi ride.

Let me know if you need any more details.

Dave
