Thanks: Gave 6, Got 18 | Work Boots - Steel Toe Caps
That time has come again for me to get some new steel toe caps, currently have some timberland ones which have been fantastic and lasted a while but im hoping some ppl may be able to recommend something else or perhaps suggestions.
what i have now http://www.sacksstore.com/images/Car...ackpitboss.gif
On my feet 8 hours of the day, somtimes 12 if i do abit of grabbing. My only issue with boots is they seem to make my skin hard in various parts of my feet. Does anyone know of any comfortable boots/trainer that will perhaps limit this?

The best ways to avoid these are:
Thick socks or insoles
Use a pummice stone on the developing callus when in the bath or shower
Moisturise
Make sure the shoe is a good fit, narrow toes and higher heels are likely to cause them more
The toecapped boots I have are very soft inside and never give me any problems, they cost twice the price of my old pair but my feet feel great after a full day on site in them which often involves a lot of walking around, they're almost as comfortable as a pair of trainers. I will find out what ones they are when I get home, they're soft and perfectly fitting.

Jalatte/Jalette (sp) workboots are mega popular in the oil business.

Managed to find the old thread I posted on a while back with the ones I use: Karrimor Safety Boots Java Black Steel Toe Cap
Price has dropped quite a bit since last year, paid around £65 for them at the time...
For reference the thread: comfy safety trainers/boots

I had a pair of Doc Marten steel toes boots, really comfortable, better than the rubbish the company issued!

Converse do some nice military boots. I had a pair myself. They're very comfortable and don't need any breaking in at all and have a zip down the side, so you can get them off and on in a second
I had these, but you'll be able to find ones with steel toe caps Converse Warrior Side Zip Boot Desert Tan |

I'm in my boots for 12 hrs a day which can include a 200mile + journey on top of a 9 hr shift
I swear by the Dewalt Apprentice Boot and so do a lot of our engineers who will wear nothing less.

Can't get away with the water proof boots as they aren't as supple!
Still wouldn't wear steel cap trainer's thou, ye still need some ankle protection as well as toe protection |

Look out for composite toe caps - the weight saving is significant and makes the boots far more comfortable to wear. My last 2 pairs of safetys have been Jallatte and they're comfortable and seem to last reasonably well.
YC-uk, have you looked at some of the Goretex lined models? They shouldn't affect suppleness, or treated leather of course. |
