] myself, I've got to say I've never been bothered by the mickey taking. It obviously started at school, but I soon found a policy of not reacting to the jibes made them get bored and go and bother Fat Phil or Thicky Holden instead.

It seems that nowadays its the one last socially acceptable jibe, and I don't think that situation will ever change. I doubt there are many gingers out there who are really bothered by it, and I guess if they are, they can always buy some hair dye

I think ginger is quite sexy, there are some girls I have seen that have nice ginger hair and skin as pure as snow. I think its sometimes beautiful.

That is a more subjective view rather than a general view based on the hair colour.

The point OP makes is that hair colour gets picked on and the others mentioned do not, whereas they do, quite regularly...

It's all to do with genetics, you can have red hair with freckles or not, the alleles for red hair are close to the ones that impact the skin, so a lot of the time it can be red hair + freckles.
Glasses and teeth i'm not sure about I don't think they're related.

My wife is a redhead as does my son, neither have:-

freckles,glasses or tooth defects.

My wife was not teased with regard to her hair colour when she was young, she is very confident and educated to degree level, she is also fluent in 3 languages.

My son who is 6 is also fluent in 3 languages does not get teased at school either, although classed as ESL, he is only 1 reading level away from what is expected of a Primary school leaver. I cannot see him getting bullied regarding his hair, he shares my crazy confidence and is always someone who will say what's on his mind.

I think anyone should be able to overlook such comments, if anything, its no more than stating the obvious

Incidentally, did you know that the proportion of natural blondes in the UK is about the same as the proportion people who are of gingers (about 3% I think). Marilyn Monroe has a lot to answer for!

I think that it's a very subjective thing, you could have someone with bright ginger hair that is better looking than someone with red hair.

I have all of the above.

The teeth are straight and free of nasty bits, just very weak - runs in the family. I've replaced most of the key ones with ceramic now anyway

Anyway, none of these 'flaws' have stopped me having reasonable success with the ladies. In fact I think you'll find that there are parts of the female population who prefer the flame haired.

I also heard that red hair was originally native only to the British isles - So arguably, I'm more British and purer of blood than you. For what it's worth

I remember 2 lads taking the 'mick' outta one of my mates for his ginger hair. What they didn't know was that he's a Karate instructor... lets just say they got what they deserved & I didn't stop him.

Another time a mate was drunkenly jibing him saying 'but everything aside mate yur kids are gonna be ginger ha ha hic'.
... to which my ginger mate casually replied "but we all know your wife is an absolute pig and both your kids are bozz-eyed" (which they were!!). Needless to say the drunk shut up and we all laffed at his expense.

No Karate instructor worth his salt would unload some guys for making fun of his hair colour.

Sounds like you have some very intelligent mates
