Being flame haired/strawberry blonde [] myself, I've got to say I've never been bothered by the mickey taking. It obviously started at school, but I soon found a policy of not reacting to the jibes made them get bored and go and bother Fat Phil or Thicky Holden instead.

It seems that nowadays its the one last socially acceptable jibe, and I don't think that situation will ever change. I doubt there are many gingers out there who are really bothered by it, and I guess if they are, they can always buy some hair dye

That is a more subjective view rather than a general view based on the hair colour.

The point OP makes is that hair colour gets picked on and the others mentioned do not, whereas they do, quite regularly...
