Thanks: Gave 1,945, Got 1,030 | Anyone tried one of them new King of Shaves AZOR Razors??
I have, as I'm sick and tired of paying circa £8 every time I need some more Gillette blades. Think I paid about £4 (standard price, not on offer) and got the razor body with 3 blades in the pack as well.
Now, I've tried numerous cheap, supermarket own razors, and most have been terrible in that I feel like I'm gonna cut my chin off at any moment. That for me has always been the advantage of the Gillette range, I never once felt worried that I was gonna slice rather than shave.
So, having paid £4 I was not expecting great things, but I have to say they are actually very very good. A nice close shave, no concerns about getting any nicks/cuts, and from memory the replacement blades were about £4 for 4, far cheaper than Gillette's blades.
Oh, and don't forget, Gillette are the people that sell the 'Power' blades for £3-£4 more than the standard blades, when the actual 'power' comes from the body of the razor, and the blades are identical in all but colour.
I for one am glad to have finally found a shaving product that is low cost and yet still gives a great performance. Gillette razors will not be bought in this house again.
There's a bit more info on the AZOR here: http://www.shave.com/azor/

I got one of these. Easily the sharpest razor I have ever used! The blades stay sharp alot longer than gilettes too. It is a little harder trying to trim accurately with it due tot he large head but now I have it sussed, I wouldn't go back. Such a close shave. Do occasionally nick myself with it though.

I started using the AZOR for the same reason - over the long-term it'll save me a fortune over using Gillette's blades.
It's a lovely, close shave but I have found myself getting nicked more often than I did with my Mach 3. Irrelevant though, I can't help but see past the extra pound signs by using this razor in place of a Mach 3 and will be sticking with it.

I'm a big fan of KoS AlphaGel. It keeps the zits down and gives a really smooth shave. I generally use Bic/Gillette throwaways (due to the insane price of heads for 'refil' razors), but I'll give these a go.

I got one of these this week when working away and forgot my razor. It isn't as close as my Gillette but it is a really good razor for the price. Also, it might not be quite as close but it doesn't irritate as much either. You just have to get used to the design of the thing and adjust your shaving method accordingly, just like I did going from Mach 3 to the new fangled gillette one.
Good product and a great price too. Can't get used to their shaving oils though, the blades just get clogged up.

I tried one of these today after using my tired Gillette Senor Excel for more years than I care to remember. My thoughts?
Pros:
Very close shave - much, much closer than my old Gillette.
Comfortable to use.
No nicks.
Good pricing.
Cons:
Blades clog up very easily and were difficult to clean. OK, I hadn't shaved for 5 days, but I needed to use a tissue to wipe the blades clear.
Difficult to manoeuvre around the upper lip and jaw-line due to the size of the head.
Overall though it's a good shave, and I'll be sticking with it.

This gives a close shave and a very comfortable shave which is great. The only major downside is that its not great for precision, as others have mentioned due to the large head. I shave up aswell as down so the upper lip area is quite problematic and also tidying up sideburns - these are areas where the latest gillettes excel in.

Thumbs down from me.
It does give a gentle, close shave, but the head is way too big and I can't get the hairs under my nose or at the corners of my mouth.
Also, it performs very well, with KoS AlphaGel, but I shave 'dry' in the shower when I'm in a hurry, the AZOR is like sanding my face with a badger's arse! I'm surprised I didn't have gravel rash after using it this morning.
I'll stick with the gool old throwaway Blue II, shaves a treat wet or dry and gets everywhere easily.

Just thought I'd give a wee write-up on these now I've had a chance to use them for a while!
As others have stated the size of the head (especially the distance between the top 'blade' and the top of the razor itself) is rather off-putting when having the first few shaves with it. Worryingly the first time I used the razor was the day before a wedding and then on the day of the wedding itself. Usually shaving two days running would result in my face being really painful and dried-out and also cut to shreds, very happy to report that this didn't happen! I was worried that (as with most new blades) I would be cut to ribbons and so my first couple of shaves were a bit nervously handled to say the least but once I got a technique down with the blades I'm able to be more confident of not cutting myself and also of getting those pesky hairs as the side of mouth and under my nose.
Would say the shave isn't as close as my old fusion but it's a slight difference and as these blades are less abrasive on my skin I can shave against the grain to get that proper closeness if so desired. I haven't found the blades to be a pain to clean, even with a heavy growth and would recommend these blades to anyone, especially when matching the cost of fusions to these!
One thing I've found to be really helpful prior to having a shave is to use a really abrasive facial scrub to remove any dead skin, this cuts out drag and helps to stop the blades (of any razor) clogging up as much. I would've posted this in the 'tips on shaving' thread but the topic had wandered a bit by the time I got to read that one lol.
All told, marks out of 10 I would give this razor about an 8 and a bit. The shave is an 8, price is a 9 but design of the razor itself is a 6 or a 7. Once I got used to the blade I found this to work for me and my wallet
*EDIT*
Oh, I never shaved 'dry' as my face wouldn't cope with that so heed Codehead's warning (sanding, badger + arse) if you do lol
