LBC Radio host gets an earfull!

The LBC radio host James O'Brien was at the receiving end of Frank Lampard's rage yesterday live on air.

Of course no-one knows the real circumstances of the separation other than the two of them.

However, from what I heard Lampard suggest the death of his mother was a big factor.

Traumatic as losing a parent is, the vast majority of people get through without breaking the family up. And that's without the amount of money he has that can negate the majority of other worries people have to cope with.

Money is irrelevant in these circumstances.

I say fair play to Lampard for ringing up and speaking so well about his current situation. For the DJ to call him scum is outrageous and Lampard defended his corner excellently .... well done Frank.

I watched O'Brien on Sky News yesterday getting a grilling from Kay Burley, he was smug and unapologetic and a real arrogant IMHO.

I thought Lampard acquited himself quite well too.

Even if Lampard was in the wrong in the first place, it's O'brien who has come out of this worse I think. His performance on Sky news was very poor.

I think Lampard was eloquent and composed. I would have found it far more difficult to be calm in the face of someone so patently attention-seeking as him. Good on ya, Frank.

I use to listen to LBC a lot, but as a station it is declining (in terms of quality). Their flagship presenter is Nick Ferrari, has over recent years has lost his edge and has simply become a radio tabloid journo, with all the superficial right-wing crap that goes with it.

James O'Brien has always been in his shadow. This incident has obviously done him and the station a power of good. Sure he comes out of it looking like a fool, but it has drawn the attention of the great unwashed and low forheads. It will be interesting to see, if there will be more personal attacks made against "celebs" as part of the stations business model. Publicity is king, particularly for a commercial radio station.

If by that you mean they came out looking like insensitive imbeciles, then yes

Not content with coming out with crap on the anniversary of his mother's passing, but he did not even bother doing basic research like the fact Frank paid for a house for his ex and his children

I meant that they got ratings. That's all a commercial radio station cares about. They now have the benefit of added listeners from that section of society known colloquially as "idiots".

I believe my post made adequate reference to the fact that morally, the station and presenter also looked foolish and ignorant, but I would imagine that ultimately they are not concerned about that.

I don't think vast sections of the media do any more do they? Most of what they seem to write or say seems to be "from a secret source" or the like. Good on Frank though, he did well there.

I can't stand moralising nobheads in the media who make a living out of dissecting the private lives of people, and trying to make tittle-tattle sound like fact
- whether or not Lampard's fair game because he may whore himself out to the media (does he? ... I don't know) it still doesn't make these media tosspots anything more than pubic lice
