Tax return questions...for the self employed ?

HI,

I thought i would try and get my backside into gear this year and het my self emloyed tax return in nice and early rather than waiting till jan 31st lol.

last year i only had a few months worth to submit so didnt worry too much about the ins and oouts as not much dosh went through the books but this time its a full years worth so i have a few Q's

btw im a self emloyed taxi driver ......

What can i submit as expenses other than the obvious fuel ? Ive heard that i can claim for a certain amount of house hold bills etc - anything i would of thought of that can be used ?

If i submit the returns now will i have X amount of time to pay my tax bill or will i get till end of Jan 2010 to pay ?

any helpfull hints to pay as little as possible would be most apreciated

Dave

Get yourself a good accountant . If he costs you £1,000 but saves you £20,000 he's/she is worth it .

that sounds like good advice

Ive always thought of myself as "too small" to bother with an accountant if that makes sense.

No not at all , you do your job, they do what they do. Ask around ,see who can offer you the best deal ,but like anything you get what you pay for

Give these a go as they specialise in small businesses and do not cost the earth either. They are all over the country so there should be one nearby.
