How do I get fence panels home?

Hello - I need three 6 x 5 fence panels for my garden. No problem to find, but how do I get them home? The delivery cost is as much as the panels themselves which seem crazy to me.
I've got a giant Ford Galaxy and they're too big to fit in that. If I put some plastic sheeting on the roof, opened the windows and tied them onto the roof with twine would that be legal? I only have to travel about a mile and a half.

Re: How do I get fence panels home?

Go to the store and buy them, then wait for someone with a transit van to appear and offer them £10 for a local delivery for both you and the panels. I guarantee someone will take your hand off for such easy money.

I did the same when I picked up a kitchen worktop

Re: How do I get fence panels home?

I just think it's hilarious asking for advice about girls on an AV board. I'm surprised nobody advised him to switch her off and back on again.

Re: How do I get fence panels home?

Little trick I heard about when buying fence panels from B+Q
The price tags are often just stapled on, with a single staple.
Very common indeed for them to come off, as the fence panels rub against each other in storage etc.
So it's easy enough, allegedly, to use the labels off cheap fence panels to buy expensive ones.
