Red face Sky Player

Hello
Does anyone know if there is a way Skyplayer can be used on more than one PC at any one time?

Re: Sky Player

It can't. you'd need to de-register and uninstall on one PC and re-register and re-install on the other.

Re: Sky Player

It's one of my bugbears with the Sky player in that it can only be installed on one PC at a time. You'd have thought that for a company that has cracked the issue of encryption/security to the point where there are no pirate sky viewing cards to be got, that they could have found a way to allow Sky Player onto more than one PC in the same household.

We have 4 PC's in the house and there is no way I'd let anyone else use my PC. It's a total shambles by Sky IMHO.

Re: Sky Player

Who's to say that you couldn't give login details to your mates down the road?

It wouldn't take a lot to set up authentication at the Sky end by which the "master" PC can authenticate to the network and Database, then any other PC attached on the same network/subnet could be authorised to use the same WAN IP to use the Sky player. Anyone trying to use the login details on an "unauthorised" WAN IP will get refused. It's not rocket science!

Just out of interest .....

I don't use Sky Player but I did install it and try it out when it was first released.

The PC that it was on has long since become obsolete, the disk reformatted and used in other projects.

So does this mean that if I decided I did want to use Sky Player, I couldn't because it's registered to some PC that doesn't exist any more?

Cheers,

Nigel

But then if you had a wireless network running your next door neighbours and Doreen across the road could be connecting if you gave them the details.

nheather, I must admit I'm not sure about that one. Only thing I can suggest is to try it and if it doesn;t work call Sky about it.

I think the occurrences of that happening would be negligible and hardly worth worrying about from Sky's perspective. They'd not be losing any revenue. There has to be a way to allow it to happen. Besides, if I'm away from home and staying in a hotel, it would be good to be able to catch up on some programs. That would be more difficult to control I admit.
