Sponsorship & Advice needed from my Great Manchester Run 2009

Hi everyone

This will be the first time I have ever tried anything like this with D-Day being 17th May 2009. I'm really excited and worried at the same time and so am asking for any advice / pointers in terms of the three months ahead.

I'm also looking for sponsorship, if you can respond here please. I have decided to run in aid of the British Heart Foundation as my wife's mother is having a heart operation soon and my wife's father died after a history of heart trouble not so long ago.

I thought it was an amazing statistic that EVERY DAY 500 people die from heart and circulatory disease making it the UK's biggest killer - my aim is therefore to raise at least £250 to donate to the BHF, with everyone's help on here, of course.

Thanks for any advice around training & guide to trainers / kit when training to avoid any obvious pitfalls there may be. Cheers guys - pledge your cash on here, I'll keep a "running" total and then collect when the event has finished on Sunday, 17th May 2009.

All the best.

Pledges so far (£30) :

Kieron £10
Woodywizz £10
Dony £10

Go signup on fetch or uknetrunner.com - they're friendly bunches and according to mrs 159 who did the edinburgh marathon last year - her first, and in under 4 hours - the encouragement is invaluable.

Good luck!

Re: Sponsorship & Advice needed from my Great Manchester Run 2009

You gonna be starting a donation page or are you just writing it down and collecting?
I'll donate some either way, BHF is a very worthy cause, best of luck with it too!

Go on then - I'll match Woody's donation of a tenner.

You'd better video it though - "Run, fat boy run" comes to mind

Stick me down for £10 as well mate. My father had a quadruple bypass a few yrs ago and has never looked back.

Let me know when you need it.

I'll also donate £10 to IanJ's charity of choice if he makes signs a mod
