Blair wins $1m leadership prize

I feel sick... quite sick.

Well I guess at least he is giving it to charity. His own charity that is...

BBC NEWS | Politics | Blair wins $1m leadership prize

Quote:
Blair wins $1m leadership prize

Mr Blair was praised for his role in the Northern Ireland peace process
Former prime minister Tony Blair has won $1m (£697,000) for his leadership on the world stage.

Mr Blair, now a Middle East envoy, will receive the Dan David Prize at Tel Aviv University in Israel in May.

It marks his "foresight", "exceptional intelligence" and "steadfast determination" to end conflicts.

Mr Blair's spokesman said the money would be donated to the former Labour leader's recently set up charity for religious understanding.

Re: Blair wins $1m leadership prize

ahh is there no end to the moral corruption of political world, first a medal and now a cash bonus, wonder if hes going to split it with the family's of all the women and children that died under uk fire in Iraq and Afghanistan

still he can put it down as a deposit on his next multi million pound spread, that would be no 6 if i remember correctly. He can probably claim some good rental of that lot on his exspenses

C'mon Eric, read either the OP or the linked article. It's going to (his) charity.

Re: Blair wins $1m leadership prize

As an Israeli prize it's hardly going to be awarded posthumously to Yasser Arafat
Quote:
Dan David Prize - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The Dan David Foundation, which awards the prize, was founded in 2000 with a $100 million endowment by international businessman and philanthropist Dan David. The first awards ceremony took place at Tel Aviv University on May 2001. The First Founding Director of the Dan David Prize was Professor Gad Barzilai and the foundation is now chaired by Itamar Rabinovich, former president of Tel Aviv University. In 2007, the ceremony was held at Opéra de Paris.

Dan David (1929-) was born to a Jewish family in Bucharest, Romania. He joined a Zionist youth movement at the age of 16. After studying economics at university, he switched to photography and worked for Romanian television. He began to work for a newspaper, which fired him upon discovering his Zionist past. He left the country for Paris, and in August 1960, immigrated to Israel. In 1961, he travelled to Europe and, with a $200,000 loan from a cousin, he won the franchise for Photo Me International automated photography booths in certain countries. He opened branches in Israel, Spain, Romania and Italy, and eventually took over the company.

I care not what he is going to do with the money, especially as hes a proven liar, and extremely greedy

the fact is that giving him this award/money is disgusting and morally corrupt.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him in general. It's just that if you do put him up against the wall, make sure it's for the right things.

It's probably his backhander for not condemning Israel over Gaza.

Thought he'd gone quiet.
