iPod touches are always a safe bet. The 32gb version is around £280.

A netbook computer (Samsung NC10)?
A portable video player (Archos etc)?
A touch screen universal remote control?

The new Bose iPod sound dock would be a nice prize aswell. Bose® SoundDock® Series II digital music system - Apple Store (U.K.)
Perhaps you could do a SoundDock and Nano bundle for £300.
I think its nice because, it sounds good, nice to own a Bose badge and it's something that most people would like but wouldn't buy because they would go for a cheaper alternative.
Cheers,
Nigel

A PS3.
Games Console, Media hub and Bluray player all-in-one
£300 will buy you an 80Gb PS3 bundle with a couple of games, couple of Blu-rays and a Blu-ray remote.

Since posting this I did a bit of searching and found that the Iphone can be got on a PAYG option so it's going to be that. I didn't realise it was available on PAYG until today!
Thanks for your suggestions everyone
Might be best to close this now ?
