Re: DVD Catalogue Software
yep.. ust hit the 50 dvd limit and its limited some of the features but it seems to be really good, I tried adding Max & paddys to 2 different pieces of software and dvd profiler was the only one that found it...
hmm to buy or not to buy.

I choose not to buy, I really did see worth it.. I can keep track of 'whats what' as I have around 350 DVD, 13 Blue rays, 2 HD DVD's. When its gets to big, I will think about it

Re: DVD Catalogue Software
the thing with me is I have lost lots of dvd's, lots of special editions and criterion disc's
my brother borrowed them and then he lent them out, I then forgot about them until 2 years later when I wanted to watch it and couldnt find it, and he had leant them out or something...

Re: DVD Catalogue Software
The one I haven't uninstalled so far is All My Movies.
Keep an eye on GiveAwayOfTheDay as they've featured a few in the past.

Re: DVD Catalogue Software
Have you tried My Movies - Home
It is media centre plug in, but it allows you to catalog your dvd's using barcodes. And if you ever decide to store some of them on your PC, you can just link the catalog entry to the file to play it from MCE.

Re: DVD Catalogue Software
I've always wondered, why do this? Why not just organise them on the shelf/storage space?

Re: DVD Catalogue Software
Try DVDpedia. It is not free, but well worth it, since before getting it, I had bought several DVDs that were already in my collection, so now have two of them.
I bought Bookpedia at the same time, to list my books. Very useful too.

Dvdpedia has a facility where it automatically sends out a reminder to the person to whom you have lent the DVD.
It works very well, and saves losing them.

I lent a friend a dvd once.
Months later he bought it round, i thought he wanted to watch it. When he was leaving, i said you've left your dvd - he said "its yours" I had no idea!
Anyway, If i had a dvd catalogue software i would of known he was overdue with my property.
Or i could of written it on a peice of paper.....

Re: DVD Catalogue Software
Ive gone for DVD Profiler.. the only real problem is all the codes need to be input manually as it doesnt have a webcam barcode scanner built in..
but I should only have to do this once and Ill recruit the misses to read em out to me
One thing I dont like about this is that the actor pictures are not automatic which is a little poor.

Brain training on the DS mate
Surely the Open Source community has a few good projects running with this in mind.

I think this proves that you should:
1) Never lend stuff out, to people you can't trust 100%, and/or
2) Never lend stuff out, and then forget to chase them up over it... vehemently!
I do lend DVD's to people, but I do have very strict rules about this. Namely:
1) You can only borrow for a set amount of time, defined between me and the person wanting to borrow it. After that, I will ask you if you've seen it all, and/or if you wish to borrow it for longer. If you don't, then I expect it to be returned within a reasonable time, usually 2 weeks on average.
2) Some titles are verbotten for loan from me, no matter what! Usually, the more valuable titles, the rarities, and the ones that can't be replaced, because they are deleted now.
3) Any DVD I lend you, will be returned in the exact same 100% perfect condition it is loaned to you in, and if not, I will a) ban you from borrowing any of my discs again, permanently, and b) not only will you replace the disc with the same identical version, but if that happens to cost you more than I originally paid for it, well, tough! You should have looked after it much more carefully in the first place!
Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind!
