Broken DVD Cases

I've been buying quite a few bargains from from HMV and Play recently - DVDs at £2.99 and £3.99 etc.

Virtually every one has arrived with a broken DVD case - either cracked or the bit that holds the DVD in the centre snapped.

There is never any sign of damage on the outer box.

Beginning to wonder whether it is just the postie playing frisbee or whether these cheap deals come about because of damaged stock.

I never complain - not worth the hassle for a broken case but I wonder whether that's what they are relying on.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: Broken DVD Cases

I treated myself to several of these ultra-cheap new year bargains from play.com and everyone has arrived in perfect condition. So I guess its your postman being heavy handed.

Thanks for the kind offer but I'm not really bothered by the cases (I too have spare), just an observation.

More annoying when the case is an unusual colour or design.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: Broken DVD Cases

I used to buy recordable CDs in full cases cheaper than the empty CD cases themselves. Not sure if the same is possible now with DVDs.

Re: Broken DVD Cases

I get my DVD cases from Tesco. 99p for 5. Probably not the cheapest.

I got a 360 game from Sainsbury the other day, it was in one of those huge security boxes, but when I got it home I noticed a rattle and the disc holder was shattered and floating around in the case.
No sign of how this happened, and it couldn't have happened while in the security box or after it was removed from it.

Re: Broken DVD Cases

Could of been damaged after manufacture and arrival at sainsburys, as the dvd seller couldn't afford to ship dvds in security boxes.

Oh MAN, then you haven't heard of WHSmith's remarkable offer of charging £1 per empty DVD case? I'm not kidding.
