Verruca's - How do you get rid of them?

Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of them, my Mrs has spent thousands on chiropodists, creams and recently even Chinese Herbal Medicine!

I didnt really pay much attention until she told me how much she has spent on this over the years, always banging on at me for being on AV Fourms too much so figure why not ask on here!

Re: Verruca's - How do you get rid of them?

Try WARTNER. It froze mine off first time, and I'd had it for ages.
You can get it from Boots, Asda etc over the counter.

Re: Verruca's - How do you get rid of them?

Bazooka that Verruca!

Generally your GP will tell you to try using standard methods of gels/creams etc for it and give you advice to treat it but you really wont get it frozen off unless they dont go away or are really deep.

It's all about getting the black root out and keeping it clean.

Re: Verruca's - How do you get rid of them?

+1 for Wartner - Great stuff - its the same stuff that a GP would use to freeze it, you just squirt it on the the aplicator, stick it on the verruca or wart and repeat every couple days till its gone

Re: Verruca's - How do you get rid of them?

I had one about 20 years ago; hacked it out with a razor blade
- no probs since then

However, I don't recommend this course of action

3 weeks later it was gone

Re: Verruca's - How do you get rid of them?

That wartner stuff doesn't get nearly cold enough to kill a deep-rooted verruca - a visit (or two) to your GP's practice nurse is a more surefire way of getting rid of a stubborn verruca - and cheaper !!

Re: Verruca's - How do you get rid of them?

don't laugh now but my dad was told by his gp today to try .... gaffer tape!!!

Taken from the website he referred my dad to read upon

"The effectiveness of duct tape could possibly stem from its three-ply construction. The Great Fact Finder website shows that duct tape is composed of three layers (see Figure 2). The top layer is a resilient plastic (polyethylene). The bottom layer is a rubber-based adhesive, and in between is a layer of fabric mesh. Yet whether it is the actual composition of the tape or its mere application to the wart, the use of duct tape, (termed duct tape occlusion therapy) has a higher success rate for wart removal than cryotherapy. In Focht's study, 85% patients ranging from 3 to 22 years of age who underwent duct tape occlusion therapy had complete "resolution of the warts," compared to only 60% patients undergoing cryotherapy. With such a high success rate, unaccompanied by burning, itching, and sometimes indescribable pain, duct tape would seem to have a promising future as the preferred method of treatment to remove the common wart/verucca"

Put a piece on for 6 days, left it off for a day and scrap away excess skin and then apply again for about 6 days and it should be gone.

Re: Verruca's - How do you get rid of them?

Doesn't the duct tape just starve it of air?

My 10yr old daughter had the soles of her feet covered in them.

Tried absolutely everything. Nothing worked.

Then for some reason, they literally disappeared over night.

Doctor said that they will eventually just go but i didnt think it would be that fast!

Glad to see i'm not the only one to take this extremely unadvisable course of action.

I did bleed like a stuck pig though.

You're supposed to file down / rub down the dead skin to remove it then put on the gel, that works in the same way that the gaffa tape method above says, pulls the root right out

Nothing like the nostril hairs or toenail clippings of an endangered ocelot to treat a condition.

Hi all, can you tell me, do you cover just the verruca or the surrounding area too. Definitely going to try the duct tape method.
Thanks.

Sometimes you just have to wait.

A couple of years ago for no apparent reason I got 2 on my foot. I froze them both, 1 went within a few days the other didn't budge. Within a month or so this has spread and I ended up with 9 on my right foot and 3 on my left! No matter what I did (freezing, bazooka, tape, banana skin, tea tree oil, drs) nothing would shift them. Went through 2 years of this until I got sick of it and stopped bothering. They all vanished a few weeks later!
