Can you do charge back on Visa Debit ? ordered from bite size deals!
orderd a IXUS 85 digital camera from this place as it was the best deal Bite Size Deals—Beat the Credit Crunch With Us - Welcome To Bite Size Deals?
item hasnt been sent out in 5 days since I ordered, have emailed them for the last 3 days and no response.
Turns out these ****** are in the USA and trick people in to thinking you are buying from the UK. take a look at the site how they Con people.
No warnings at checkout about item coming from the USA or that i would have to pay chargers etc.
When I try to log in and cancel my order it says this!!
Due to the volume of Christmas orders we are not accepting any cancellations at this time.!
They advertise the camera as in stock! but they no doubt have to source it from some were else, they took money from my card straight a way as well, and I will no doubt receive the USA version of this camera which is a totaly diffrent model number than advertised.
Any way can you do a charge back with Visa debit ?

Nope, afraid not with a debit card, you're stuck, the sale is your bank account to the seller.
With a credit card its you to whoever the card is with then them with the seller, you get it back off them, they get it off the company etc.
It's just you and the company in question with a debit card sadly.

The web site does state based in the USA, click on 'About us.'
Some banks that issue Visa debit cards do offer charge back facility.
I do hope this works out for you.

I would patiently wait for the order because if you read there T&C's you get stung.
Our Purchase Guarantee
We currently offer refunds only on products defective or damaged on arrival. We are unable to exchange products that are not damaged, defective or incorrect.
If your order is not explicitly exempted under one of these scenarios, then it is considered final and not allowed to be cancelled, adjusted, returned, exchanged, refunded, or the like.
Once your order is confirmed, it can not be cancelled unless it is not in process.
Unauthorized Returns
Returns made without authorization are subject to a 50% restocking fee. Returns made within 7 days of receipt are subject to a 20% restocking fee, unless damaged or defective.
you will lose a minimum 20% + postage & packaging - and thats assuming they 'receive it back' - they might say they never received it back and then your loss is more than 100%
I personally would bite the bullet and be patient mate
Good luck.

Re: Can you do charge back on Visa Debit ? ordered from bite size deals!
I foolishly made a purchase from France via debit card that went belly up. I was unaware of the protection offered via this method so was happy when my bank advised me that I could initiate a charge back.
In my case it was damn obvious that the seller had no intention of posting my goods so I had a refund within 5 days.
It's a very welcome change that debit card holders can now receive the same level of protection as credit card holders.
Certainly gives me more options in the future at times when I just don't want to pile up the costs on credit card transactions.

Goes to show how much better the UK consumer protection laws are compared to the US.

I used to think that too, but did read a few months ago (in the Times) that both Visa credit and debit cards do offer chargebacks (not sure about other "brands" of debit card)
Whether this case will merit one is another question, in my experience of credit card chargebacks, its usually when the merchant has gone down the crapper .. BUT IF YOU DON'T ASK YOU DON'T GET
Anyway, couldn't find the Times link, but here are two BBC Working Lunch articles from 2005 and 2008:
BBC NEWS | Programmes | Working Lunch | Visa debit card refunds
BBC NEWS | Programmes | Working Lunch | Visa debit card refunds
EDIT ... just finished reading the thread, and realise you all know this now

Re: Can you do charge back on Visa Debit ? ordered from bite size deals!
Bite sized deals and Best Priced Brands WARNING trade with .co.uk domaine addresses. If you are stupid enough (as I was) to believe that they were a UK company you have problems. They both appears (see various web posts) to be the same ****** with a different false "shop front" in Pasadena, California. Neither gives a phone number or address, prices are identical, as are terms and conditions (lousy and illegal in UK law). They ship US goods (with no UK or European warrantee, not compatible with uk SOFTWARE, US plugs etc). Various posts suggest non-shipment of goods, no refunds, illegal "restocking" fees if you return. Credit card payment may not protect as this an "overseas transaction" and the law is vague. Debit card offers NO protection. DO NOT BUY FROM FROM BITE SIZED DEALS or BEST PRICED BRANDS. The best that you can expect is late delivery of US specification goods with no UK warrantee, a return policy that is illegal in the UK(50% "restocking" charge), no customer support (they have no phone number and do not respond to e-mails). AVOID at all costs. Spend £5-10 more and buy in the UK. Oh! and by the way they do not tell you that if HMCR cotton on to the nature of your goods, they will add 20-25% to the cost and that UPS will charge you ££s for the collection of the tax and duty. DON'T do it!!!!
Both bite sized deals and best priced brands have .co.uk addreses, both are US based, both have phoney addresses in Pasadena California, they appear to be owned by the same non-caucasian (if names are anything to go by) *****. AVOID BOTH.

I think he's got quite a way to go before he can put CheekyKid's title under threat.

Re: Can you do charge back on Visa Debit ? ordered from bite size deals!
Completely happy to accept the title of Dickhead of the Year and will wear it with pride if it prevents only one of you boring electronic masturbators from spending with bite sized deals or Best Priced Brands, both masquerading as UK retailers. Buy a console and it won't plug in to a UK socket and will only accept US games. Buy a camera or any other piece of kit and find it doesn't have a UK warrantee. Then find out that you have no recourse to a refund on your debit card, and probably/possibly not on your Credit Card. Ignore the trail of false addresses and give the guy your money. You may get something (or not): if you get anything it won't have a UK warrantee or plugs. Who is the dickhead then?

Re: Can you do charge back on Visa Debit ? ordered from bite size deals!
Cue moderation.
If you buy from a retailer that looks shady without checking it out you have nobody but yourself to blame, this is the 2nd thread about said company on here now, we all know the details.
OP asked a genuine question, there's not need to go off on one about a company, which I believe may be against the forum rules...
