Question Philips TV Question

Hi,

My lovely 28" Daewoo 4:3 TV blew up this morning, so I'm not in a great frame of mind, bearing in mind it's now heading towards Christmas, money's tight, and the last thing I need is an expensive electrical scenario to rear its ugly head.

Anyway...

A local TV shop has a Philips 28" Widescreen TV (Model No: 28W6305/05) for £50 with the remote, and although I know it won't be great, it should be reasonable for the price. However, I can't find any info on this model on the internet, not even a piccy. If anyone can post links to it, or any info (in English) for me, that would be really nice of you all. Thanks!

Mods: Apologies this isn't in one of the TV Forums, but I don't even know what kind of TV it actually is (e.g. LCD, Plasma, CRT or what).

Re: Philips TV Question

This a CRT screen, probably one of the matchline series.

If I remember correctly the picture quality of philips around this time was very good compared to its rivals so for £50 in good nick it'll be worth a punt.

Re: Philips TV Question

I believe it shares the same specs wih the 28DW6558/05.

http://www.usersmanualguide.com/phil...ch/28dw6558_05

That will link you to the user manual.

For what it's worth, back in the CRT days, I have a Philips 32" and the picture was superb, I lost count of the times people commented on the piicture quality. The sound was not too shabby either.

Re: Philips TV Question

My Mum and Dad still have this tv (32inch version) in there backroom. You get a very good picture and sound that beats any lcd or plasma.

Re: Philips TV Question

I use a 32" Philips CRT in my Video Game room for all the old consoles, it's great! Philips made lovely CRT sets back in the day (about 6 years ago anyway)...

Re: Philips TV Question

Try a "wanted" ad in the TV Classifieds. People are often looking to shift CRTs cheap or even free.

Thumbs up Re: Philips TV Question

Hi,

Thanks to everyone for their help, advice and kind thoughts. I was very peeved this morning, seeing my much-loved Daewoo go tits-up. I bought the Philips 28" for £50 as I anticipated I would, and whilst not soemthing I would usually choose, I can't really complain for the money it cost!

It's a shame that in order for me to get the same kind of picture size as my old 4:3 TV had, that in widescreen terms, I'd need to look at something around 32"-36" in size. A 28" widescreen TV just seems so small to my little Daewoo.

Oh, and a big Thank You and to the AVF member who offered me an old Panny 21" TV for nothing. I won't mention who they are, but I just want to say that their generosity deserves a big from me, for the kind thought.
