So.. Christmas Presents.....

So I was thinking perhaps we might all benefit from some joint ideas on Christmas presents.

Some ideas we could discuss are :

What would you like for Christmas
What you are you getting the, wife, gf, bf, sister, mother, father, baby etc.
What if anything are you treating yourself to.

I'll start the ball rolling.

What I would like/What I am getting.

My present is actually probably going to get used by the wife more , it's a family present of an IPOD touch , which will be living in the kitchen in a docking station. Bored of the radio, so that's my present.

Wife, as we have gotten older and already acculated the expensive watches, jewelery etc, we have tended to the same thing each year. We take a day around town, she picks out what she wants clothes etc, I buy them, take em up wrap em up and she gets them on Christmas day along with the odd "surprise" gift which is often underwear, perfume, a dvd some stocking fillas etc.

Daughter: She's only 2, and I really can't see the point in going overboard , especially as the house already has about 20 presents for her stacked up from relatives, but so far she has some clothes, a farmyard set , a keyboard with microphone etc and a desk.

Rest of family, mums, granny etc, fortunately the wife deals with all of this and we have all been agreed that we won't spend much this year on each other, £10 type of deal , so that's resulted in wine , chocolates, Bodyshop baskets etc.

How about you, what would you like to see from Santa ?

Re: So.. Christmas Presents.....

I am getting a heavy duty aluminium chipper for my actifry

I know i sent ere in doors the link and its on the floor in the living room atm

Apart from that I am impossible to buy for, I dont want much and if I do want something I just go and get it. Clothes (Anything with a designer label is out), Watches, Jewellery, Smellys (I have a bad chest and cant tolerate any smellys in the air) I have zero interest in. I cant eat 90% of foods because of my condition and I dont drink or smoke.

Toys are cool thou I got a remote control Darlek and several nitro cars

Buying for ere in doors is hard since I have no idea on fashion or what she likes (since it changes hourly...) and she aint getting a channel bag

Everyone else gets stuff from amazon delivered to there door gift wrapped

Re: So.. Christmas Presents.....

Already had my 320gb hdd and hdd caddy for my ps3 off my girlfriend. I gave her money to buy shoes back in November but I've just ordered her Singstar ABBA.

For my Dad I've got a nice big solid metal cook book weight, shaped to fit in the book crease in the middle, also got him a book about being green, larder, preserving, gardening, natural remedies and stuff.

For a sister I found a nice book frame, set of four different size frames joined around each other.

Fable 2 Xbox 360 game for my brother still got lots to buy...

Got the kids a Wii, they already had a 360 for a couple of years now.

I won't be buying for anyone else, as I've been made redunudant. As long as my kids are happy at xmas and we have a nice xmas dinner, and are all cosy, then I don't really care.

Got My Sister Leona Lewis CD, a camera case and a top

Got my brother a Lambretta Leather Jacket which was an absolute bargain at a recent scooter rally!

Got my niece the high school musical dress dress from Asda that there has been all the fuss over as no-one can get it! yay!

Got my bro in law and nephew matching West Ham polo shirts and hammer pin badges! Oh and a west ham curly straw for the nephew only!

Still got HEAPS to buy!

Re: So.. Christmas Presents.....

Well, we have kids, so we find the custom diary's and calendars you can create from the likes of photo box with your own photos are a superb family present all round.

This year, with everyone into music, we got Guitar Hero World tour on the Wii, that should go down well with parents and kids alike

We have a lad, a girl and a teenager, the lad and teenager are real easy to buy for, our 7 year old daughter on the other hand is difficult to buy for, she's not one for dolls and the like, which pretty much stuffs you when you look at the choice for girls, however, she wants a bike this year, which has made it easier.

I'm with the OP, when you have young children, there's not much point going mad with gifts, but it doesn't matter how much you try and keep it down, once you add all the rellies gifts to the pile, you soon have a mountain and your living room ends up a see of wrapping paper!

Are you Gordon Brown?

My wife loves kitchen stuff, so I'm one of the few men who can get away with buying the other half a load of new cake tins and she'll be happy, and I'll reap the rewards!

I think between me and the wife, we've bought our 11 month old daughter the whole of Toys R Us...

Is this your first year? Welcome to the pain of trying to get the actual items out of their flooping boxes!

Part of me is tempted to unpack and build/test everything before Christmas day so she has the time to actually play with the things instead of watching daddy swear at a cardboard box for an hour before wandering off to nick a load of batteries from a remote control.

The other part of me thinks box-shaped things are far easier to wrap than a giant ride-along cow is...

Re: So.. Christmas Presents.....

Well the missus wants a new camera, we've gone over the top on prezzie's for my boy, my parents are getting a lovely photo of my boy playing in the woods in autumn put onto a large canvass. Its really nice and i'm thinking about getting another one of them for us! The only other important one is the dog. He loves christmas and christmas dinner and unwrapping his prezzie's. Dunno what i want, nothing really, and no idea what I'll be getting. But i'm pretty sure a PS3 will be on the list of stuff i'm NOT getting!

...and if she's anything like my boy she'll play with them for a total of 10 minutes over the next year and you realise a giant pad of paper and a box of wax crayons would have saved a fortune and occupied her for far longer!!! Our local charity shop is doing very well out of us this christmas!

Re: So.. Christmas Presents.....

I still have not decided what I want yet but I am being pushed for an answer

I brought my wife an Ipod Nano this morning which I know will get used a lot.

My little lad is proving a little more difficult. As mentioned in a previous post, we also celebrate Sinterklass today where he will also receive presents so we do not want to overload him. At the moment I think I will get him a football kit and some creative stuff, his drawings are superb and at 5 he can draw better than I could at 16, amazing.

Thankfully I don't think there are any transformer type things this year. They are a nightmare to work out.

Saying about the hassle of getting stuff out of boxes, I sometimes think it would be better to just get them boxes because they can spend more time playing with the box than what's inside it.

Re: So.. Christmas Presents.....

Does anyone here wrap their kids Santa presents? We have never done so before, but this year my wife has decided to wrap everything so the children can tear them open one at a time, rather than flitting from one present to the next without taking anything out of their boxes.

Regarding presents, my 7 yr old wants a metal detector as his main present, and a Wii. I've actually had the Wii for over a year boxed in our airing cupboard!! (don't ask ). He's also getting things like Hot Wheels, a remote control car and loads of books and DVD's.

My 3 yr old daughter has been easy to buy for this year. Anything that has Peppa Pig, Dora, Little Einstiens or In The Night Garden she wants!!!

Our baby is 9 mths now so she'll be getting some cuddly toys, and the boxes the other children's presents have come out of.

Wife and I have agreed not to get each other anything because we spent quite a bit recently doing jobs to the outside of our house. I also ordered 900 litres of oil yesterday which my wife said is what she really wanted!!! I bought a decent set of knives last weekend for us both as we enjoy cooking but have been using the same knives (cheap ones) since we got married 11 yrs ago. I asked her last night again if there was anything she really wanted on Christmas morning and she has told me just to get her a bottle of Bacardi!!!

I've ordered a digital photo frame for my parents and am uploading loads of photo's for them.

I got mine from Play.com....they have a decent range of various prices. I got an 8" frame because my father's sight isn't the best, but he has always loved taking and looking at photo's so I'm sure he'll love it.

My mum will cry!

I was going get them one last year but left it too late and there wasn't nearly the same choice as there is this year.

I went for this one, with a 4gb card.

Digital Frame

I ventured into the camera forums here for some advise, but it seems a techy proof frame hasn't been invented yet (someone recommend using an old 15" monitor because the resolution is better!

Customer reviews seemed good enough though.

After arranging singing lessons for my partners birthday, she want's a piano to practice with.

We've arranged an evening with each every family member to have dinner with them to ensure we spend time rather than money with them, but as tokens we're getting them:-

An authentic art deco mirror for my brother & his family, Brazil nuts for my dad, a photobook for my mum of her late father, and lots of little things for my sisters family.
