Wasing machine broke - company in administration

My 11 month old Servis washing machine has broke and I just called the helpline and it said they went into administration in October 2008.

What do I do now? Who would be responsible for the repair? The retailer or perhaps my credit card company?

The website is still up and there's no mention of them going belly-up.

Re: Wasing machine broke - company in administration

If you used your credit card to purchase the machine then yes the credit card card company is obliged to help you.
I am sure that other forum members will tell you to contact 'Servis' but I can tell you 'Servis' do NOT live up to their name, the muppets at the call centre appear to be untrained in UK consumer law.

Having just reread your post, I'm sorry I thought you were saying the retailer had gone 'bust,'
The answer to your question is that the retailer is responsible for the repair, it is irrelevant that the manufacturer has gone into administration.
The retailer is ALWAYS the first port of call.

Unfortunately Servis Uk Ltd went into Administration 17th October but as others have said try the retailer first

Yes by law its the retailer that is responsible for the guarantee, not the manufacturer.
