Not one "Trick-Or-Treat"er this year

Another Hallowe'en night over and this year we didn't have one kid knock our door to "Trick-Or-Treat". There were plenty of scratters though. The street outside our house resembled Dodge City with rival drunken scratters chucking fireworks at each other and a pack of about 30 pre-teens roaming the area throwing eggs at houses and fireworks at passing cars and pedestrians. This only stopped about 11-ish. Is it any wonder parents wouldn't let their kids out "Trick-Or-Treat"ing.

Re: Not one "Trick-Or-Treat"er this year

Had one lot of kids come round, was expecting people to come round so I opened the door tot these kids saying trick or treat... they were only about 8 or 9 or something with their parents
needless to say I wasn't prepared and don't have any sweets or owt...
their parents were more than happy when I gave them some oranges, the kids didn't look too impressed

I was just back from cinema and it is far too cold out But then some of the Halloween "costumes" were a little material-light so good luck to those people..

Re: Not one "Trick-Or-Treat"er this year

Not one came round either.

I would have thought there would have been an increase this year, you know, kids pocket money being cut short so what a better way than to try and get free sweets from every street.

They probably knocked from doors 1 to 7 or something, got nothing and ended up knocking it on the head.

Re: Not one "Trick-Or-Treat"er this year

Plenty of the youngsters (10 and under) with their mums around 6pm to 7pm and then nothing.

None of the older kids bothered - they would normally turn up later.

So I've got loads of sweets left.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: Not one "Trick-Or-Treat"er this year

We had one lot, which were dutifully ignored, and got up this morning to find the hedge at the front of the garden had been almost destroyed by people pushing through it. Can't be certain that the two events are connected, but...

Had a couple of small groups call at our house, but overall, pretty quiet... they must have found something more "exciting" to do at the village roundabout! ....

Re: Not one "Trick-Or-Treat"er this year

I live in Northern Ireland, Oakie and they don't really have bonfire night here, as they do in "mainland UK" but make much more of a deal about Halloween!

They also set about the public toilets nearby, running a rope doused in petrol across the road and lighting it, watching the rope burn to the toilet doors! ... Very much in the spirit of a holiday festival .... ... scumbags!

Enjoy your bowl of sweets, BTW!

Re: Not one "Trick-Or-Treat"er this year

didn't open the door to any begging kids last night, had enough of their scrounging almost every weekend

its no longer sponsorship and school raffle tickets which I'm happy to contribute too, but recently local kids have just been knocking on our doors asking for a donation for this or that (last week it was "leprosy"), very dubious and undoubtedly fraud since they never actually have any proof or paperwork regarding their supposed collection

None round here either, I specifically bought in sweets and put up a halloween sign saying "Welcome", but no takers.

As per the others on here, two tubs of Roses to get through!

We had none, but I saw some on the street - isn't it Halloween etiquette to only trick-or-treat a house which is festively decorated - e.g. has a pumpkin lantern in the window. Maybe some kids actually follow this 'rule'

Maybe our Pumpkin lights in the front room window, pumpkin lights on the staircase, pumpkin lights on the porch and 2 light-up Disney Haunted Mansion tombstones weren't enough then

None round here but the best trick, if you're expecting the unwelcome variety, is to melt some chocolate and pour it over brussel sprouts.

Re: Not one "Trick-Or-Treat"er this year

We had 30 or 40 -I think, lost count to be honest.

I really don't know where they came from, we only had 4 or 5 last year, there are not that may kids on our road, and we don't live on an estate.

Some were with mums/dads. I think some were driven here.
