Isle of Wight -getting there and what to do!!

I may be making a mad 4hr journey to the Isle of Wight this Sunday to collect an oil filtering machine!!

What is there to do on the island for a few hours, my son is with me and he likes all things military!

Also may sound a stupid question, but whats the best way to get to the island on a sunday as I will be in a van!!

Thanks in advance!

Depends on direction you are coming from.

Ferries are from:

Whitelink - Lymington > Yarmouth
Red Funnel - Southampton > Cowes
Wightlink - Portsmouth > Fishbourne

Military interests - Needles Battery is quite good.

Red Funnel is cheaper but a longer crossing.

I believe that you can use Tesco points on Wightlink but it may be too short notice for that.

Agree that the Needles Battery is worth a look & also the park next door. If the weather's decent maybe a short boat trip out to the Needles lighthouse & the chairlift down the cliffs. The glass making is also quite interesting.

Definitely one ferry!

The link I posted takes you straight to the timetable & you can book online. This time of year you'll only be looking at £30/34 return depending on time of day.
