Home Study Courses

Does anyone have any exprience with these?

I've been looking at a few websites offering these courses and wondered if anyone here has used them or can give me some advice on them. Looking at a change of career as sitting on my arse 60 hours a week is doing my head in. Part-Time college courses are pretty much out of the question due to working hours so home study would be more suitable.

Been looking at a CompTIA A+ Certificate course that I'm quite interested in.

Re: Home Study Courses

I've looked into doing the A+ as well. I personally think the likes of Computeach are somewhat overpriced but I heard good things about them and others such as SkillsTrain. I would personally consider the Advent Training, which looks professional and better, but perhaps there are other who will know more.

Re: Home Study Courses

Thought about weekend courses ?

I would have thought if you are doing those hours you will struggle to do home study courses unless you do weekends anyway.

Also if you have no self disicpline then you may find them difficult - based on people I have seen doing these courses.

I did my professional qualification during weekends - I did try home study very early on and found it difficult.
By attending a venue you are more likely to pay attention and learn without distractions.

just my 2p's worth

I can do a few hours while I'm at work.

I'm only sat on a front desk, hardly any visitors and just answer the phone now and again. Rest of the time it's petty quiet so I could sneak a few hours study during the day.

I'll look into the weekend route though, just in case.

Re: Home Study Courses

Well whatever route you do - good luck

It will be worthwhile in the end - it may seem like hard work but stick with it
