Does anyone know when the next round of train fare increases are?

Particularly for National Express, I think it's usually January but need to make sure. Can't find anything on the net.

Thanks

Dunno, but I was amazed at paying £137 return to London yesterday.

Albeit in so called first class which amounts to no more than some extra leg room, a dodgy free sandwich and not been surrounded by chavs.

God I can fly to Italy for that, insane.

Not in first class on a walk on fare, you couldn't.

And Alitalia are about to go bust trying to sustain that.

Re: Does anyone know when the next round of train fare increases are?

It is usually in the new year as I believe fares are agreed for the year(?)

SimonH, so you did not consider standard class which would have been halve the cost?

I always pre-book in advance tickets on the Virgin westcoast mainline service. £20-30 for a 1st class ticket is great value for money. Not for everyone if you have an unplanned journey of course

Yes I considered it. Less than half price, £47 return, still didn't appeal for a 4 hour journey in my area.

Re: Does anyone know when the next round of train fare increases are?

Well we are not going to make it to the end of the year without another carrier being grounded so I would not be so quick in making that comparison
