Sparky? Please explain

Can a sparky explain what the council have done to my fuse board?

My house is starting to be rewired and I know the fuse box will be replaced when finished and the old white meter heating box removed What is this stuff they have added

They have replaced what would have been a 60\80\100 amp fuse connected to the meter with a switch. Allows for easier maintenane of new consumer unit.

The have added a neutral block and an earth block. These 3 things allow for possible expansion in the future ie 2 consumer units.

What's going on with that cartridge board? Is that currently live? Or was that a "work in progress" picture...... it looks like a death trap....

Oh the old fuse box that was proablly fitted when the house was built?

Thats AFTER they cut stuff out of it!!! A whole lot of stuff was ripped out of there and a few minior things replaced, They are going to remove that and fit a new box for all the new electicals in a few days.

Usually when you cut a circuit out, you remove the associated cabling from the fuseboard, so it doesn't flap about next to the live circuits..... at least it's being replaced, looks like a good thing!
