North Face Jacket ?

Well its that time of year that I start to look for a new winter jacket, I've been looking at the North Face jackets and like the look of the Northface Evolution TriClimate.

My question is, where is the best place to by them on line, Also has anybody else got this jacket ? what's your thoughts on it.

Re: North Face Jacket ?

Funny to see this as I was looking for a jacket today for my son... some shops won't be selling in earnest until end of September though...
I was getting shut of one of my wardrobes tuther day and whilst rooting and clearing out I found a 6 year old Berghaus that was mint so am wearing it now with a fleece (heating is bust at moms)

PS try www.outdoormegastore.co.uk after end sept

Re: North Face Jacket ?

I bought my lightweight (Berghaus) jacket from outdoor kit, and they have the jacket you are after..

http://www.outdoorkit.co.uk/product.php?product_id=570.

It is also worthwhile looking in TK Maxx from time to time as they often have decent jackets in there (old season stock usually though)

Edit:
I believe Blacks and Millets are part of the same group, and where they share stock items, the less 'upmarket' Millets is often cheaper.

Re: North Face Jacket ?

Couple of things to consider

(i) - Not sure if it is still the case but North Face jackets fasten up the opposite way to most other makes (the parts of the zips). This means if your jacket is interactive (can zip in a fleece) then you have to get a North Face fleece becuase others won't fit because their zips are the other way round.

(ii) - My experience of North Face customer service is not good. I bought a pair of North Face approach shoes. They are great but just after a year one of the laces broke through wear on the eyelets. First I tried to buy some generic replacements but I've not had any luck finding strong laces thin enough to go through the eyelets. So I contacted North Face about buying some replacements - this is easier said than done because North Face don't have any real representation in UK, they are primarily in Italy and Belgium for Europe. However the UK brand manager did get back to me saying that she would provide replacements free of charge but that she needed to get them from Belgium. This has been ongoing for 4 months now and still no laces. The UK lady is great but she is being given a total run-around by Belgium who seem to come up with a different set of stories each week, including 3 seperate occasions when they have been 'in the post'.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: North Face Jacket ?

Hi,

I bought the North Face Talkeetna TriClimate last year and is a very warm and comfortable coat, but be aware because the fleece is zipped inside the outer coat, the only seal between the cold wind and your body is the zip on the coat. When I was hill walking in with very cold wind I found the wind getting into the coat and making my belly cold!I had to unzip the fleece from the coat and zip up both seperatly, then I was all toasty again.Apart from that I am still very impressed.

Re: North Face Jacket ?

My wife has picked up a very good Sprayway Goretex jacket called the Venus (there is a gent's one available, but I don't know the name, probably Mars) from Cotswold Outdoors. Cost £100, but asked and got a 15% discount. Very good coat for £85.

Been put through it's paces over the last couple of weeks, hope it last until the wet days of the winter. Can't wait.
