Warped DVD

I've been sent a DVD from family which has arrived warped like a buckled wheel. The postman must have sat on it. It won't play on the DVD player, just makes a scratching sound as it spins.

Has anyone got any ideas how it can be flattened out again? I don't think putting it in a big book will do on its own. It'll probably need something like that and some kind of heat treatment.

Any ideas?

Re: Warped DVD

Perhaps try a china bowl with a flat bottom, filled with hot water sat on top of it (used to work with vinyl )

Don't try the microwave.

Re: Warped DVD

Thanks for the tips.

I bent it back by hand as much as I could and then the wife put it under a pile of about 7 tons of books. It plays now so looks all good.
