Google earth photos come from low orbit satellites (a couple of hundred miles up) - the satellites move relative to the ground.

Doing say just Times Square, live in realtime, might just be possible as you can either

1) Put a hell of a camera on a geostationary satellite (24000 miles up)

or

2) Put an average camera on a blimp, or recon plane etc.

Doing the whole of NY would require many thousands of such cameras.

Yeah, they've just started doing street views for American and Australia I think and I believe it's coming to the UK as well. Basically they stick a camera on top of a car/van and drive around taking pictures of everything.

I remember seeing in the news that some guy was annoyed because there is a picture of him passed out drunk on the side of the road.

Re: I found him!

BBC News did a report on it showing people caught in "unsavoury" situations. One man was photogarphed walking out of a pornography shop, others caught parking illegally and some walking with women who were suspected of not being their other halves. Minefield.

Re: I found him!

Funny thing is it is completely out of date in some areas. My estate has been here for about 5+ years and is still showing as a field!!
