People may already be aware but if eBay/PayPal think that you are listing in a catergory that they class as a high risk of fraud they are now putting buyers funds in the sellers account as pending until the following: - The buyer leaves you positive feedback on eBay.
- It's been 21 days since the payment date and you haven't received a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal on the transaction being held

PapPal is a joke simple really I like the concept of Ebay and PayPal but the reality of dealing with them is mind numbing.

I just had that recently with selling my PS3 on ebay, they held my payment for 8 days even though my buyer left feedback, it's frustrating, but makes things a little safer from nigerian 'business men'

Fair enough it does make it safer but is it solely for that reason when you consider your money is sitting in PayPals accounts earning interest which isn't passed on?
Not everyone leaves feedback, so if you get a buyer that doesn't leave feedback your waiting 21+ days for your money!
Not allot can be done though as if you use eBay you need a PayPal account and for that you have to agree to there T's & C's which as a seller means getting trampled over!

I have avoided using paypal like the plague.
I used to post - 'No paypal accepted' on my listings until EBay pulled them so forcing me to open a paypal account.
And lo and behold, I have just been hacked and £350 paid by me to no doubt a bogus listing (now removed from EBay). Luckily I caught it within 4 hours of the 'sale', straight into paypal, listed a dispute, changed passwords etc etc etc.
Now I fully expect to have the £350 withdrawn, then held and maybe paid back to me some point down the line, even though it is clear as mud it wasn't 'my' payment and it is a hack.
So I have closed my EBay account and will close the paypal one asap after resolution, as no shocker, you can't do a thing until they are happy.
Don't you just love them?

I used ebay for quite a few years but over the last few months have had so much grief regarding the 'varified accounts' system that i decided enough was enough. Now i've read paypals new T and C I have finally decided to stop using both.

Ebay pulled them as it was against their T&C and I tried to explain that I can't wait two weeks for the money to clear and they couldn't careless so now I don't use either of them. |

My bro is currently threatening Paypal with legal action to get some money they took from his account.
Basically, he sold some alloy wheels on eBay a few weeks ago, buyer paid straight away via Paypal and my bro shipped them via a courier. He got conf the following day to say they had delivered OK.
No feedback after a week so he chased it and the next thing he knows the buyer has raised a dispute saying the wheels are wrong size and my bro has refused a refund? Obviously he replied saying he hadn't been contacted and left it at that waiting for a response. 2 days later he checks Paypal and all his money is gone. PayPal said my bro missold the item so they refunded the buyer!!!!
He's been arguing it all week now but getting no where so on Friday he informed PayPal he is pressing charges for effectively stealing his money. Will wait to see how that goes.

Well ive been forced to use PP recently (importing rock band for the PS3)
and had to use that bloody echeque method as i only have my bank account linked to it.
Anyway i absolutely hate PP with a passion as i know plenty of people with horror stories. The way PP favour the buyer is untrue.

I haven't used Paypal or eBay in ages because of their multitude of changes to user agreements, fees and whatnot. eBay isn't about the person clearing out their attic any more, it's all about shops and storefronts. I don't mind buying from eBay but I don't want to sell on there any more.
Any suggestions as to what people are moving to for selling stuff or transferring money?

They don't really favour anyone. They do whatever is possible to hang onto the money longer so that they earn more interest on it.
Recently for example legislation was passed that meant banks could no longer ask for 3 working days for an electronic inter-bank transfer. I.e. if I now transfer money between HSBC and RBS it happens almost instantly.
No surprise that Paypal, even though all their transactions are electronic, are not doing this as they are not a bank and therefore not financially regulated. Thus when you initiate a transfer from Paypal to your bank it still takes 3 days.

I am never touching PayPal again and would warn anyone else not to bother either.
