I know that urge well, I find myself gazing at Airfix and Tamya model kits and thinking I could get a magnifying lamp and it would be better than when I was 10 'cause I've got more patience now. Then the better half reminds me that I've still to hang her new mirror and fix various loose handles around the ranch and the dream melts.

I've always fancied the Tamiya Enterprise 1/350 scale model (aircraft carrier).
The thought has stuck with me since many years ago when, while the kids were creating mayhem in a toy shop in France while on hol, I found myself hiding in the model section to get a bit of peace. There was said model, tucked away in a corner, at a price which equated to approx £45.
I didn't buy it there and then, but a few days later decided to get it while passing on the way back to the ferry.
Unfortunately the shop was was closed. Must have been half-day or something.
On seeing the price when I returned to the UK (£120+), the lost opportunity still bugs me.
Haven't a clue where I'd have put it however, nor where I'd have found the time to make it!

I bet you drink 'real ale' out of your own pewter tankard too
If you ever catch yourself saying "This isn't music, it's just noise - I can't even tell what they are saying" then it's time to tuck your blanket over your knees, pop your feet in one of those huge single slippers and watch countdown until you shuffle off this mortal coil.

Ned | Oh dear.. I hope you will like the new countdown girl now that Ms Vorderman has been given the push.
Whilst I'm here I'll give you my recollection of model train sets from when i was a lad. They might have changed now, but there was a variable transformer with a knob which had an end with 2 prongs which slid under the track, each prong made contact with rail on the track and supplied the power for the trains.
I set it all up, plugged it it, popped the prongs in under the track, turned the knob on the transformer and nothing. Train just sat there.
I fiddled with the connections, nothing.
I pulled the prong thing out and tried to touch both bits with a piece of metal to see if there was any sparks meaning power there - nope.
I suddenly noticed that the switch on the plug outlet wasn't on - how silly of me. Train in one hand, prong thing in the other I popped the prong thing in my mouth to free my hand to lean over and flick the switch on....
It was only 12v I should imagine, but I will never forget the feeling of 12v going through my tongue.
I never played with trains again, I was only about 6 or 7.
