Increadible to think that this could happen to sane people, locked up for life in a mental asylum when they were sane but because they carried the Typhoid bug. I knew that this was the fate of unmarried mothers in the 1920's as I saw old newsreports where women who had babies out of wedlock in th 1920's ended up in asylums.

Theres an item on Newsnight tonight about the story and on the website is a list of names of those locked up. BBC 4 are asking that if anyone recognises any of the names as a family member, to contact them.
