Re: This has just reduced me to tears while I type this.

My Dad died in March and i have two photos taken by my brother and sister. The first is my Dad a year ago on his birthday wearing a big smile and a badge that reads 'i'll do it when i have time' and the second allmost a year later that was taken by accident and turned out to be two days before the brain tumour killed him and was the last picture of him. Both lovely but for totally different reasons.

The photo that shows the note pad where he writes " where is everyone " etc, is like something from a movie. Its not something you`d really expect.

Beautiful website. My dad passed away 3 years ago. I still think about him everyday. I wish I had taken more photos, spent more time and listened to more of his stories with him. You don't realise what a gift parents are and what a source of knowledge and endless love until they are gone....

Re: This has just reduced me to tears while I type this.

The thing that worries me is that IF you manage to navigate your way through life (which is kind of a lottery really) then that is what awaits you. Just seems sick really.

I never had to watch my dad get old (he died 10 years ago at 48, diagnosed with cancer and dead 3 month later!) which considering the man he was and the life he led is actually pretty appropriate.

Again as others have said I miss him all the time as I find myself being the 'man of the family' and dont now have anyone to mentor me or give me that advice a man needs from time to time (any husbands and fathers will know what I mean!). I sometimes wonder when I changed from being a boy to becoming a man as sometimes I dont feel any different.

God I should really stop thinking about stuff so much!!

I'm sure its different for everyone, but when you pass the age that your Dad was during your earliest memories, the circle of life starts hitting home.

eeeeeeewww, did I really type that

Re: This has just reduced me to tears while I type this.

"Service unavailable" using both links provided above.

Dad is 84 and been in hospital for the last 3 weeks. We are hoping he will be strong enough to come out on Friday for a big extended family-get-together and to celebrate mum's birthday, but i somehow doubt he will have the strength. It may well the last chance he gets to see some of them. . .

EDIT Site is working now

I remember a while ago when I had to look after mum and dad, mum had had a knee replacement operation, and eventually came home, then dad had to go in because of ongoing heart, and blood pressure problems, and then mum had a kidney infection, and became very weak and confused. They were now both in hospital, and I was in their home supposed to be looking after them, and neither of them were there. It felt very strange and disconcerting. I really didnt know how to react so for some reason I went and picked up my camera and walked around the house taking pictures of "memories", such as framed photos, including one of the man who brought my mum and dad together for the first time, objects from childhood, a painting, the hairbrushes on my mums dressing table, etc, etc. I feel a bit guilty for having done that as neither mum or dad were in the picture. I will resolve that once dad is back home

Yes I know, I'm a sentimental fool etc . .
