Thumbs down A little too close for comfort

We only found out a couple of weeks ago that my neigbour and his wife have been up to mischief. You may have seen the news today about an accountant in West London that was jailed today for child smuggling and treating the kid like a slave for two years.

There is a newspaper report about it here and here but i'm sure it'll be in all of the rags tomorrow anyway.

I personally feel sick that this was all going on right next door without us clocking it. We had our suspitions as the house was / is always kept locked up apart from about 10 mins in an evening when the kids are allowed out to stretch their legs and play ball with mine over the fence.

We have been hounded by BBC and Channel 5 for interviews but declined as at the end of the day we still have to live in the neigbourhood.

No wonder he has never made a fuss about the noise when the SVS arrived

you cant really feel bad as how were you meant to know, something like that isnt exactly blatantly obvious theres no loud noises and how are you meant to track the people and see when their outside you expect people to be law abiding not people with clear sick intentions

Exclamation Re: A little too close for comfort

Steve,

Do not blame yourself for what happened next door! You are in no way to blame for what went on there, and you can't use yourself as a scapegoat for what did go on! It's not your fault this occurred, and you are right to decline any interviews/journalist requests for interviews, etc!

I'd also ask if the local police can help to stop journalists/media/papparazzi from coming within X distance of your property. See if some kind of warrant or restriction can be issued, that stops your family from being in any way linked or used to what has become a big news story in your area.

Steve,

Don't beat yourself up over it, I can imagine most of us would not know what goes on behind the curtains in our street, once a few years ago in a flat I was renting, the local C.I.D asked if they could use my spare room as a stakeout room, they were watching the house across the street.............they stayed for a few days, only during the day, never did find out what they were investigating.so, you never know........

Re: A little too close for comfort

Wow that must have been horrilble to find out.

We had something similar. Nice quiet cul de sac then a lovely old fellow 4 doors down was beaten to death. Turns out the 18 year old girl next door had been blackmailing him for months and her boyfriend killed him when he refused to pay anymore.

They got 18 months. Unbelieveable.

The wife is walking around today with her head held high as if she is inncocent.

IMHO they should have both been deported as they clearly have no respect for our immigration laws.

Re: A little too close for comfort

Apart from once buying her two T-shirts proclaiming "My other name is bitch",...

awful story, probably should get longer than 18 months, although will probably serve less.
