I'm in two minds about this .
On one hand the he shouldn't have been kicking the fence - as mentioned its there for a reason and the reason isn't for some chav to come along and destroy it.
In that respect he got what he deserved - had he been caught doing this he would have got off with a slapped wrist and told not to do it again.
So looking at him as a yob / vandal I laughed but ...
On the other hand Kids are silly and do things without thinking - We all did it when we were young and foolish -if you deny this then you are kidding yourself.
So in that respect if he was just being silly that punishment was a little harsh.
I imagined what if that were my son - and he was hurt just for being a little silly - how would I feel.
I acknowledge he would have done wrong but maybe required a punishment not as severe as given to the kid in the clip.
My son is 6 and on occassion has been very silly - we have bought him up with discipline and on the whole he is good but boys will be boys and become silly.
He was playing in the back garden with a toy sword pretending to be a pirate and started to hit the bushes and trees - he then for some reason started to hit a bird bath we have (made of stone) and kept hacking away at it - he then proceeded to kick it and knock it over - it fell over and broke.
When asked why he did what he did he said I was playing - now if others had seen him they would have assumed he was a vandal and said he deserved it to fall on him etc.
I was cross but not enough to see him hurt.
So I can see both sides of the argument here
Not sure what my point is exactly

- thought i'd share anyway
