Unhappy Re: Hooray!!! i've won a car.

Hi Ron,

I hope you have won, but....

... the contact details are a mobile number, and a GMail account. I suspect you'll be contacted by someone who needs a "Security Deposit" of some kind, in order for them to process your winning ticket.

Personally, I'd scrap the e-mail and ignore it. You've about as much chance of getting that car (without some kind of major financial incurrence), as Duncan Goodhew growing back all of his hair; Michael Jackson staying resurrecting his musical career to the heights of his "Thriller" and "Bad" days; and as much chance of me running the London Marathon backwards, in under 4 hours.

In other words, no bloody chance whatsoever! Sorry, mate.

Strange, because on some websites, a box flashes at the top of the screen sometimes and tells me I'm the 1000 visitor or some high number and I have won a prize.

Things like this really get my back up, the bare faced cheek to try and dupe people like this. It always ends up being the nice goodwilled people who fall for it too.

Re: Hooray!!! i've won a car.

i wanna know if anyone is gonna phone em back to get them excited...
it totally reminds or the one a while back about the guy who tried to buy a laptop from the states, the seller (realising) started stringing him along and posting on a comp forum. someone on the forum went to the internet cafe that was the delivery address and sat there with a web cam showing all the peeps who it could be..
ended up sending a cardboard computer with some extra weight and under pricing the package and stating what it was so customs got it and contacted the buyer to come and collect it as there was a shortfall and DUTY to pay on it... so funny.

Don't. I expect it will cost you. just sign up the email for loads of spam.

Note they're all numbers beginning 070, cleverly disguised by sticking 44 in front.

I'm not sure exactly what numbers these are but I expect it's another way our hapless OFCOM will let us be ripped off.

Lol - yes I realise that and didn't intend that comment for the OP. I posted my one million euro one as a continuation of the joke. But if you do a search for the ticket serial No's on mine or the OP then there are a huge number of sites which tell people to beware etc. They obviously do work on someone otherwise they wouldn't send them would they.

Unless the OP believed it... in which case You're an idiot, I can't work with idiots. Rongood, you're fired.

Re: Hooray!!! i've won a car.

This a whole new cult of scam baiting where you string the scammers along, wasting their time, getting them to do silly things, sometimes even getting money out of them!

Here are just two such sites

http://www.scambuster419.co.uk/
http://www.419eater.com/

If you have a lot of time on your hands try reading through some of the mail transcripts. Some of the things they make the scammer do is quite funny.

On one I read the scambuster pretended to be a senior member of a strange church. Made the scammer join the church and send pictures in with red painted symbols on his chest as part of the initiation. Even got the scammer to send him $80 for the admin fee so that he could 'release' $18,000 of church funds as a donation to the scammer.

Cheers,

Nigel
