What is it with the mentality of today's youth? (gee, I'm talking as if I'm old, but I only left school 8 years ago!)

What is so amusing about walking down the street kicking over everyone's bin, throwing things at conservatories or taking out people's fence panels? This seems to be a weekly occurance these days. Every Friday & Saturday night, we can expect to have some kind of trouble with drunken yobs who have nothing better to do with their time than vandalise things. They can be from the neighbouring council estate, or they can be from a posh 5 bedroomed detached house belonging to mummy and daddy along with their Xbox 360s and PS3s. If you are unfortunate enough to live in an "under-priviledged" area, you'll get almost round-the-clock police patrols, whilst the scum-dwelling parasite kids get drifted out to the un-policed areas. Or how about ignorant scrawlings of graffiti artists - live in an "under-priviledged" area and it'll be cleaned off within days. Live somewhere nicer and you'll have to look at it all over the NTL boxes and bus stops for YEARS.

In my opinion forced castration is the only option - no more of this ASBO nonsense (such as the silly chav we had working for us last year who kept a photo of his ASBO mate in his wallet, rather than a girlfriend or wife like us normal people). That prevents most of the inbred dimwits from breeding further, and the remainder will eventually kill themselves in amusing ways.

This really grinds my gears too. Why can't they do something productive with their time? Or play a sport? I can't stand vandalism. If this sounds like I'm an old fart I'm only 22.

The main factor that's created this gang culture is the liberal namby pamby governments attitude to crime. These children of Blair have grown up knowing that no matter what they do there is no consequence for there actions.

Parents can be jailed for smacking there kids, schools have no way to control them apart form excluding them (which the school looses money if it does) the parents can appeal the exclusion at the LEA who mostly over rule the school and in any even the kid doesn't want to be at school so exclusion is hardly a punishment. The police are powerless, if they do nick them for the x00th offence the courts treat them with a bleeding hart normally the worst they get is some namby liberal telling them its wrong to be naughty or in ultra extreme rare cases an asbo! which is worn like a medal of honour by them anyway.

Blairs kids have grown up knowing they can do what ever they like with no chance what so ever of anything happening to them.

I was coming back from work at 10am (I work nights) and a woman of around sixty left a bag of bread rolls on the bench next to me and didn't have the slightest remorse about it. After seeing this I looked town at the disgusting bubble-gum splatted/fag but ridden floor below me and realise how much the most part of the people of Britain's attitudes towards littering is... .... they don't give a flying frig

I completely agree with the comments on castration, I'm only seventeen but the state of the country when it comes to youths on streets never ceases to amaze me.

I live in a small village and at the moment chav kids are not a big worry or nu sense , what with the robberies that are happening at the moment, but as soon as you step into Wrexham or Oswestry it's just full of kids 9 to 25 (lol) that should be in school or work or doing something positive but are just throwing stuff or listening to terrible music though there stolen phones, I have no objection to the drug weed, but when you see these lads and lasses you know that for the rest of there lives they're going to be buying white lightning cider and crap 1/8ths of pollen with dole money for the rest of there pointless existence!!

Fact: - we lived in Aldershot (the outskirts) under the 'namby pamby' 'Liberal' (I laugh as I write) Conservatives. Vandalism was rife (every fence, every garage had damage done to it), all the houses down the street bar ours and our neighbours (we both had large dogs) were broken into on a few occasions. The local shopping centre was a no go zone at night, while if you dared to face one of the gangs of kids off, then you expected 'mouth' at best, stuff thrown at you if you took it too far. The local council (all Tory) did nothing, there was never a policeman in sight. Sound familiar?

I lived in Guildford under the same 'wishy washy' govt. If you went on to the estate at night, or even the evening, you were taking you life in your hands. All of the pubs were no go areas on the estate, as were several pubs in Guildford itself.

I cite these as this was in the 'good old 80's and 90's, in an area of Britain that is not famous for 'yoof crime'.

Yet you didn't have to go far to find it.

Nothing has changed, just peoples blood pressure has been raised to indignation point by the Daily Whine and co.

From the viewpoint of a teacher, some of the parenting I witness the effects of are horrendous.

After the holidays it is almost impossible to get some of the kids to write anything. They often say they haven't even picked up a pen in 2 weeks.

What constructive activities do these parents do with their children? Or is it just let them do as they please.

Sorry but this went on when Thatcher was in control.
It is not just "Blairs" kids as you put it.
They are part of our society therefore they must be our kids, rather than blame successive government heads although I agree some should be tried for crimes against the British people, society is ours and ours alone.

surprised if the Thatcher allowed this, i know my mate got a hiding from the police for being lippy back at this time, didn't she have a shoot to kill policy on the IRA sending out SAS hit squads to knock them off?
