going to have some people round (adults and kids)for BBQ and need to get some entertainment in the garden Swing ball ,Garden tennis etc

can anybody recommend anything else ?

Trampolines are great.I picked one up at B&Q,14' for £40...how they make them for this price is beyond me,the metal scrap value must be close to that.

You can get them with a net around to stop kids falling off and breaking their necks.

Sorry to sound like a party pooper but monitoring a large group on a trampoline is going to be a full time job for the adults - as per bouncy castles (you really don't want this to happen: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/kent/7360948.stm ). Apparently the lad has won his case.

Stick with badminton

Actually a badminton set is a great idea - its cheap and it's great fun for adults and kids, and is pretty safe - no chance (much) of broken windows. Or boules which can be played on any old bit of gravel/lawn etc.

I dread the warm weather, for me it just means that the noisy gits over the back from me will have their windows open and their "music" will be audible for the whole town to hear, which spoils everyone else's enjoyment of the warm weather.

I can remember going to an adult party about 5 years ago. (Was 20 at the time)
They had a bouncy castle and the amount of blood soaked noses that came off it was funny. (All accidents of course).
After a few hours later I thought id have a go myself They decided to push me over the back on the bouncy castle and I landed on concrete flat on my back. It winded me
that bad I thought I'd snapped my spine.

I can remember making these as a kid, used to work on a horse farm at one point in my youth and the farm had roles and roles of polythene kicking around. Waited until the boss was away , rolled out the poly and turned the hosepipe on them - Good Stuff - ahhh the good ol' days.

In my case a Trampoline was an accident that did happen. I failed the final manoeuvre of a big jump to the ground and ended up with a broken arm! I'd advise the little ones to climb off, or at least have an adult ready to "catch".

If you have a larger garden these things are astonishing. I bought four of them, put my mobile number on them, as they seemed very prone to flying high up into trees!

Depending on the age of the kids, (or how much beer the adults have ) the pop up tent & tunnel things you can get have always been mega popular with my kids & their mates - this type of thing - and adults can never resist a crawl through! We don't have that particular item, but we have a few different tents & tunnels, to make a 'course' as such.

And it also has the added benefit of providing a bit of shade when required - in light of some of the posts here, this may prevent you getting sued for failing to provide adequate shelter etc

Woody... tut, tut... you forgot to mention doing a risk assessment prior to commencement of the activities. And making sure everyone has a hi-vis jacket.

I'm glad I'm not the only person that use to do this. Growing up on a farm was so much fun in the Summer! We had a long garden that sloped as well, you could pick up quite a bit of speed!

Buy a load of sweets (large multibag of Haribo with miniture packets inside), hide them all around the garden. Kids will spend hours looking for treasure & they'll also bring back everything you've lost over the years

If you can be bothered, write cryptic clues no them to where the next one might be hidden.

Kids are kept busy & parents can still hold a beer can whilst pointing in the general direction of sweets with the other hand

You can't use an Aerobie in the back garden...unless it's a mansion!

I missed a catch on one once, it carried on, across around 15 gardens before hitting a guy mowing his lawn!
